Not sure. I didn't get to go out and ask questions but Kelly got the pics. My team isn't near where it was but his is. I'll try to find out more tomorrow. :seasix:

I'll try to find out tomorrow. I believe it's built at the Seymour plant. They make tank engines among others. I hear the plant manager there doesn't even have clearance for part of the plant.

4000 hp out of 16 cylinders! The mining trucks and genset stuff is up to 18 to 20 cylinders at about 80-90 liters of displacement. The Detroit/Mtu 20v runs 4000hp at 1800 rpm for genset duty or 3750hp for mobile equipment. Those run $500k to $600k I believe.

the 16 cyl stuff is usually not more than 3000 hp.

Also notice the intake manifolds are on the sides and the exh blows through turbos in the valley and exhausts upward.

That weighs a few pounds..........
Cummins has revealed the new QSK95 engine at the Seymour Engine Plant. The engine puts out a huge 4,000 horsepower, making it the most powerful high-speed diesel being made today. The 95L 16-cylinder diesel engine is Cummins’ first high-HP diesel and gas platform as part of a new product line that will extend up to 120L, 20-cylinder (the QSK120), which will be capable of up to 5,000hp.

The engines are designed for electrical generation operations such as in locomotives, heavy power usage industries, large mining equipment and haulers, marine, etc. Compared to the 1200 RPM and lower medium-speed engines often used in these applications, the QSK95 is much more efficient and cost-effective for the same power output.

For power generation applications, the QSK95 meets the need for highly dependable, fuel-efficient performance. For offshore oil and gas platforms, the QSK95 will be available as a ready-to-install drilling power module. The QSK95 will power the new C3000 Series genset from Cummins Power Generation, providing a class-leading 3.5-MW high-speed output.

Thats about what we use as EDGs on our ships :D..........4 per hull
they tieup traffic a bit coming into the shipyard!!!!!!!

^^^ beat me to it...Jeez!.. 95 liters and only 16 cylinders. The pistons probably look like pie plates. That will be in a 400ton diesel elec.mining truck pretty soon. Or maybe a small train locomotive.

That will burn 150 gallons and hour even on a mining truck that isn't at full throttle half the time.

There was an article about it in the paper about a month ago but I couldn't remember what it said. :leaving:

I know of an locomotive that generates 6.4mw and around 9600hp.

:yesnod:

Very cool indeed! That must suck down the diesel!

FWIW.....Ok for release............:D
