next up is connecting the well discharge to the tank, and new tank pump discharge to the house. also need to run electrical lines. hope to be done in a few days.
will allow our low producing well to fill the tank, and if that is not sufficient, then we can either have water delivered to the tank, or go get some with a small tank in the back of my truck. delivered water is 13 cents/gal, if i get it myself, it's only 1 cent/gallon.

Using about 100 gal/day, but the well has been tailing off since spring. Local drought.

Wow....never thought about that.
I guess we take a lot for granted inasmuch we expect water to come pouring outta our taps any time we want it.
This little project will run about 12k.
I could buy a nice used vette for that much. :sadangel:

Last summer I had to replace my well pump. Two guys, one company truck. They pulled 500' of pvc pipe ( 20' threaded sections ) , hooked up new stainless steel well pump, put new pump back down with new wiring ( 500' of three strand ) and were done in 6 hours.

Ok, so are you on the right or the left? Or maybe, under the gravel? :D

I used to have to fill up a tank in the back of my pickup, and dump it down the well....That sucks....I hope this fixes your water woes....Mine were fixed when city water came through about 10 years ago...:hurray:

Good thing you got that done now Douglas, experts predict that the drought in the southwestern U.S.A. will only get worse for the foreseeable future! :willy:
Just got a reply from the trunk tank guy: he's closed until march. :beat:
On to plan B. sigh.

It's a really big trunk. Plus, there isn't a lot of junk in it.

That is quite a project. Hopefully it solves your water problems.
I had cistern for water in a house I lived in years ago. I had a 500 gallon tank for the back of the truck. An almost full 500 gallon tank will squat a 3/4 Dodge 4X4 pretty good, lol. Hauling water wasn't too bad except in the winter. Pretty much sucked when there was a foot of snow on the ground. After adding a barn, 3 horses and a goat to the homestead, I had a well dug.

looking to get a 275 gallon tank that will fit in the back of my pickup, so i can haul water to the property when the well is not keeping up. i'd only get 200 gallons at a time, so i won't bottom out my truck (payload max of 1660, water is 8.3 lb/gal).
just located one, headed off to inspect and buy if it's ok. :hurray::hurray:

Don't buy it.
Run a hose to your neighbor and fill the tank from his well. Do it at night and make sure you have plenty of hose.

Good luck Doug! :seasix:
might even get a bargain in the process, these tanks normally run about 150, this one is offered for 100.:dance:
rule of thumb: for tanks, figure about $1/per gallon of capacity if buying a tank. steel, plastic, doesn't really matter. a little cheaper as the size increases, but not much.
Got a 275 gallon tote tank yesterday. :DAB:

Question, I got a 40 gallon water tank in the camper, laid flat on the floor in the rear, blocked in good, it's that white plastic like that shown, but I have no support for the sides/top....do I need bother for only 40 gallons?? maybe a foot high and 18" wide....3' long roughly.....
:waiting:
i wouldn't risk sitting on top of that tank directly. i'd have some seat support that carried the load to the floor, but not via the tank.
in other news: work is on hold for a few days, too cold for the PVC cement to be used.....should be warmer some middle of next week.
mess of snow is predicted here. snow angels!!:hurray:

What IS this 'snow' you speak of??, the tank I have is setting under the rear bed/seats, nothing resting on it directly....just wondering if it needs more support for the side/ends.....I wouldn't think so, but...???

sounds like it's fine as is.
snow: frozen water in a crystal formation that falls from the heavens to hide all the crap in the yard that you didn't pick up yet. eventually melts and provides moisture to flowers and trees.

When I moved to Edmonton for a while we had a holding tank in the basement of my cousins house.
For a guy to come fill it up it cost $130.
For me to go get water with a tank similar to this one it cost $4.00
I couldn't stomach the smell and the taste of the water though.
I think I have a picky nose.
due to the truck's load limit, i'll only get 200 gallons at a time.
thankfully, we have a water treatment system in the house, removes all the crap in the well or delivered water, and makes it very nice to use and drink.

I found the drive much better when I filled right up to the top.
The less the water that moved in the tank the less the truck moved around.

when i bought my truck, funds were limited....if you want to chip in, i'll paint it any color you like and put your name on the hood and sides. :yesnod::yesnod: for a little extra, i'd even put a number on the roof and doors. yep, a water hauling racing truck!!
