After much thought and soul searching, I have come to the conclusion that it is time for me to hunker down and start looking for other employment opportunities. The first hint was the fact that broken down, I am making the same thing an hour now as I was when I was working for Food Lion over 10 years ago, the second is the number of hours I have to put in to make ends meet is starting to drain me both physically and emotionally. Not to mention that it is quite apparent that the owners of the company are running it into the ground, and I am not planning on being on a sinking ship without a life raft.

So, if anyone has any opening in the company you work for, or know of any open positions that you think I may be a good fit for, I would greatly welcome the suggestions. Even with looking through Craig's List, Indeed.com, Career Connection and a few others daily, I am still bound to miss or overlook a good opportunity, or one may not be posted where I am looking.

The reality of jobs is that 85% never make it to the "want ads".... they're filled from within or the creator of the position has a "known candidate" that they seek out for it. So what's that mean for you? Don't waste your time with want ads that much.... figure out the areas you want to work in and start networking.... it's all about who you know.

Joe,

Do you have any IT experience?

Not sure what kind of money you are looking to make, but where I work we have a helpdesk (entry level) that is hiring. If you have basic windows knowledge, I can pass your resume on to the company that contracts the helpdesk. I'm not certain, but I think they start out around 30k.

I have basic windows knowledge...if you flip the little latches you can open them...LOL. I have basic computer skills, I don't think I could get away with a help desk job...I would have to call a help desk to help the help desk

Joe,

Bring cards and network at Waterside. Resumes under the wipers may be a little too much. :D Besides, that might be my plan.

I feel your pain. I am retiring 01 Aug from the Navy and need to find a job. No-one wants to talk to me yet so I keep getting more nervous.

Steve,

When I retired it took about two months before I got serious hits, that was a long two months. Also, if you are ready to work when your terminal leave starts, advertise that date.

MTI...Medical Transport Inc.? I have and I am not qualified....YET. All of their people are EMT certified, and being a non-emergency transport company, none of us are required to me EMT certified.

Now with that being said, I have been pre-studying, and am hoping by next year to go to school and get my EMT certs.
