I’m thinking the engine didn’t know if it was doing 40 mph down the road or sitting still. Engine is probably the least affected component in a burnout.

The motor gets pretty hot without any airflow. Most cars start puking coolant after that long of a burnout.

At the end of the season New England Dragway would do a burnout contest and a lot of the cars get hot. I used to powerbrake my C4 like that and the motor would get hot.
