I was out in the garage trying to perform some motorcycle maintenance, and bent over just the wrong way and threw out my back. I do this two or three times a year, but it's never been this bad. I barley hobbled back to the house. I'm currently flat on my back with a heating pad. I can't even get up to go to the bathroom.

You type quite well upside down!
I do that a couple times a year as well, while you're on the floor, put your feet and calves on a couch or chair knees bent for a while, and take some IB's to loosen up the muscles. Then if you can get up try hanging forward, feet shoulder distance apart, and move your upper torso side to side in a circular motion. You'll find every time you do you will hang a little lower and lower. This for me straightens out my spine as much as possible. Try it.:seasix:

BTDT. I feel your pain, bro.
I've had to roll off the couch, crawl on all fours over to a doorway and pull my self up the frame just to stand up so I could take a piss.
Taking a dump and wiping your ass is a whole new world of pain too.

Screw that. Just pop a bunch of left over pain killers and down some shots of whatever you have handy. Go to sleep and get up fine the next day. :shots:
Works every time. :leaving:

No left overs here either. I popped 4 ibuprofens as soon as I got in the house. When I can get up I'll try the hanging thing.

I feel your pain. More specifically, teh wife feels your pain (she does this a couple times a year). Is on a first-name basis with her chiro.
Hope you're feeling better soon. I'll wave as we drive by on Wednesday (picking up the daughter in Corvallis).:kimblair:

Wow, this thread reminds me of a hippie that started a thread as he was leaving his house for the emergency room. Amazing how people may be dying but with enough determination to inform the Off Topic :rofl:

My Doc told me an interesting exercise when I threw out my back last year. Seems that the spinal area in the lower back has little circulation, so problems tend to take a while to repair themselves.
To improve circulation, movement is required. He suggested sitting on an exercise ball and bouncing slightly for 20 minutes a day. Similar exercise is light bouncing on an exercise trampoline for 20 minutes. Both generate movement and needed blood flow.

I'm able to hobble without assistance today. My wife really wants me to go to urgent care and get some drugs. Getting out of bed was an ordeal, as is getting up from a chair. I haven't ever tried a chiropractor, but I have been seriously considering it. I have been to an acupuncturist for a nerve injury to my shoulder. She didn't have a lot of success with that injury, but I hear they can do a lot more for back pain. Thanks for all of your thoughts.

:ack: I did the same thing last weekend just before a hunting trip.
Spent most of three days in bed trying to stand and walk.
Ended up being just muscle strain since all is good a week later.
Ice then heat! :yesnod:

I broke my spine in 3 places back in 1999 in a Fast Roping accident.
My shit goes whacked around 3-4 times a year. Standard Operating Procedure is to get in car, go to ER (not the one at the hospital). Tell them what is happening and they pull my records and mix the cocktail and shoot it in an IV.
45 min after walking in the door, I am back at home drooling. Usually takes a few days to be able to move.

I remember as a little kid, my father resting on the top landing of the stairs, putting his feet on the top or maybe second step, and rocking his knees back and forth...to pull his Sacrolliac? paind into control.....I have the same lo back defect....been a PIA all my life.....
and now wife's SIL got up one Am some months ago, hasn't walked decent since....to boot his work is physical .....
skeletons suck, we need to rebuild them on a exchange basis....
:sadangel::yesnod::lol:
Once or twice a year for me. Mine is a muscle spasm, so pain killers only work on the pain, not the cramp. I keep some Robaxin on hand and it typically works in less than 24 hours.
