Anyone have an idea of a field I could look into getting while I am in school?
I'm sick of the retail life style. Hours suck, people suck, and the company im with feels like its commuting suicide with the new policies they are pushing.

I worked in an auto parts store when I was in school and switched to the garage end changing tires and batteries. Good exercise and no dealing with assholes for the same money or more. AND, I learned a lot in that garage, plus free hoist time when I was off, and a hoist was open. :seasix::seasix:
It only takes a few minutes to learn the machines.
THEN, I got a job waiting tables in a bar/restaurant, and bartending, and the tax free $$$ started rolling in. Triple what I was making in the garage! That's the best job during school, and lots of slims too.:boobies::hump::seasix:

THAT much is true, BUT, don't bother with college unless you are into HARD science, engineering, and HARD business courses....other wise your degree is about useless as tits on a borehawg.....degrees in basketweaving are not worth the money in the FIRST place, much less you in debt for it upon grad......
I remember back in '63 in my second semester Englush klass, the Prof got up on the first day, took roll call and then asked....'How many of you intend to major in ENGLISH for your degree'?? and so a bunch of reluctant hands went up...and HE with his master's degree said, 'Take my advice, DON'T, all you can do with that degree is teach english......' and I never forgot that comment as our fed.gov finances these totally useless degrees in underwater basketweaving and the like over some 1/2 a century now.....
the above reality is NO bullshit either.....

I say start working in the restaurant biz. If you can be a server at a good place that's always busy and has either a pricey menu or fast turn around you should make some good cash.
Or its time to get an internship.

This.
Also, working during school is a means to an end. That means, you do whatever it takes to get through school. If that means worthless, stupid, mind-numbing jobs - that's what you do.
I worked at a mall photo store for a while. The downside: stupid customers, stupid managers, stupid co-workers, low pay, long hours. The upside: girl in photo processing with big tits. Ended up living with her for 2 years. She was a psycho but that can be overlooked for a while (re: 37-26-36).

Get a paid internship through your school. The company that you intern for, may just hire you after you graduate. It'll look good on your resume too.

TQM, ORM, and with my job, ATSEV. ATSEV was started so folks could validate you're doing the job safely and correctly. It's turned into a bunch of freaking Nazi's spying from behind equipment and waiting for folks to make a mistake.

This is what I did while in college. Made great money every night, always had cash in my pocket, plus got a little paycheck every two weeks. I even landed my first job out of college through the contacts I made waiting tables. I did work in a fine dining establishment (wore a tux).
Often the ladies I worked with were quite fun and easy.

Girls are so low on my gff meter its funny.
I just want out of this dead end position.
My boss and I had our daily " performance" review.
I'm down on number of customers delt with per hour.
Down on my hours worked to profits.
Yet I am #1 in the store as far as total sales from last week.
I'm getting railroaded out of my raise come the beginning of the next coming year.
I have grossed over 200k for my store in this year.
More than 30k more than the next closest person.
I am extreamly tired of not being paid what I feel I'm worth.

Start shopping around see what other stores have to offer. There's a lot of different part houses in the world, and since you have the experience and sales numbers to back it, it should hopefully put you in a good position to bargain.

Joey,
Your degree is BA but what is your concentration(s) in?
I.E. Finance, Accounting, General Management, HR, Marketing or International Business?
For example I have a BA with concentrations in Finance and Accounting. My MBA is another dual concentration in Finance and General Management.
So, the question is what area(s) are you focusing in?
kingpin

You sound like a lost young man.
You need to answer a few questions honestly to yourself to figure things out.
What do you WANT to do?
What do you ENJOY doing?
Is this feasible WHERE you live currently?
Are you WILLING to work(behind a desk/labourous work) to get where you want?
Do you HAVE any current contacts in the field you want to get in to?
If you're a 1%'er who is willing to bust his ass then go out and dig trenches if you have to.
If you're a lazy young punk then go occupy something!
There are only 2 things that can hold you back if you're willing to work:
1. You're lazy and are waiting....waiting...waiting. You need to be aggressive.
2. You're environment(where you live) doesn't have what you need to get ahead.
Be happy you have a job. Serious! Whether or not you make the company $1 000 000 or $200 000, when in retail only the owner gets paid. In retail no one is irreplacable and there are 50 others who will take your job at a lesser wage.
Figure out what you want and go and get it or get in to it.
Otherwise your complaints will always fall on deaf ears.
