TxAg's thread about the couple who said there were cockroaches in the plane got me thinking. Years ago my wife, daughter, and myself went to Atlanta every Thanksgiving to visit relatives and to shop for Christmas. We always stayed at the Ritz in Buckhead. (Now, I'm not posting this to brag about how much money I can spend. I'm actually a tightwad; when I cash a $200 check and the teller asks if I want "big" bills I say, "Yep--twenties!".)
Anyway we always stayed in the same room on the Club Level; it gave us an eye-level view of the fireworks display at Lennox Square. My daughter always took a friend on the trip, then my cousin's daughter would stay with all of us at the hotel. When I checked in I asked if the three girls were going to be charged for eating at the Club Level restaurant. They said "No, they won't eat enough to matter."
When I checked out they had charged me an extra $300 a day for the kids (who used that restaurant to eat chocolate covered strawberries). When I told them what I was promised, they did not question it and removed the extra charges plus a nights stay. That is old-fashion service given under the policy that "the customer is always right, and we want your repeat business".
In this age, where profits are slim and courtesy is lacking, do you have any good news to report?

AT&T cheerfully wiped out a couple hundred dollars in roaming charges I incurred while on a business trip. All the AT&T cell plans at the time did not charge roaming but, unbeknownst to me at the time, my rate plan did charge for roaming. I called AT&T Customer Service and, it turns out, my rate plan was so old the rep couldn't even find it in their system. The rep switched me to a current, comparable plan and removed the roamining charges.
One phone call, ten minutes, and done.

Bud, I certainly will. But my visits to Atlanta ended about 8 years ago when my daugher "outgrew" it. I'd love to resume the tradition, but my family support just isn't there. Thank you for the offer, Friend! :seasix:

Thank you, kind sir! :hurray:
Several hundred years ago, when GI's were baby killers, I got a weekend pass and was flying home from Ft. Knox, military standby, in uniform.
Delta flight coming from Florida, thru Dayton to Columbus.
Got to the Louisville airport just in time to buy the first leg ticket. Agent said hurry up and he'd hold the plane and you can buy the next ticket in Dayton. I had to run out onto the tarmack and the operations crew drove the stairs to the plane. The flight crew opened the door and let me on.
Got to Dayton and went to buy my ticket to Columbus. A little short. About 8 bucks. I looked at the agent. The agent looked at me. Out of his own pocket, he ponied up the difference and I got home.
Mr. Delta airlines ticket agent, I've never forgot your generosity.
Times have changed on many levels.
