Yeah Bertone at the time was riding the wave of "holy f*ck" that came off the Countach they had done for Lamborghini, and being honest, their concept cars had a tendency to be... well... ugly.

You should see a more-than-passing-resemblance to the then 5 year old Fiat X1/9 and IMO, the Rainbow was probably supposed to be a peek at the Fiat X1/9's second bodystyle, which never happened.
