View Full Version : Contract Negotiations Are Over, And We Actually Got A Raise

The company wanted $12 million in savings, no matter how it was done. Through buyouts, and early retirements, that was achieved.
They also wanted us to pay a lot more of our medical on top of that...To cut a long negotiation short, we shopped other medical avenues, and Blue Cross & Blue Shield, our carrier, found out, and bettered the deal that we found elsewhere.
Here's a break down....It's amazing, as far as I'm concerned.

Medical - -$8.00/ week (less)
Dental - -$1.96/week (less)
Life Ins- -$0.70/week (less)
AD&D - -$0.30/week (less)
LTDisab- -$0.35/week (less)
TOTAL - $11.31/ week less that I have to pay towards that chit.

That, and an $800.00 signing bonus, equates to basically a $27.00 a week raise....

Honestly, I was expecting to get totally boned, and have to pony up for medical, and get nothing on top of it.... It's only a two year contract, but that's two years closer to my buyout....:seasix:

We, union and non union get a 30% raise in medical contributions this year. No raises. No bonuses. Consider yourself very lucky. :sadangel:

Ya, no chit..... I'm happy to still have a job in this economy, let alone a "raise". I actually do the work of two other people that took a buyout though.....Eh....Whatever...The day goes by faster...:shots:

After taxes, that ain't a dinner out... That's going directly into the 401k, so that Uncle Sugar can't get me until I'm making nuttin'....:seasix:

Is your bonus taxed as a gift?
