There are some cases where it's clearly long overdue.

CHICAGO - A felon out on parole in Chicago beat an elderly woman to death last month, stole her engagement and wedding rings and then used them to propose to his girlfriend, prosecutors said on Thursday.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office said Raymond Harris, 36, showed off Virginia Perillo's engagement and wedding rings at a party just hours after an attack that left her unconscious and bleeding in her southside garage.

Perillo, 73, was rushed to a hospital and declared brain dead. She died two days later.

According to prosecutors, Harris asked friends at the party which of the two rings he should present when he asked his girlfriend to marry him.

They said he wound up giving her both when he proposed a week later.

Investigators identified Harris, who was paroled in May after serving 13 years of a 30-year sentence for attempted murder and aggravated arson, as a suspect in Perillo's slaying after they found a bloody watch in her car.

Tests showed a match with Harris' DNA, which was in a law enforcement database.

His fiance subsequently turned the rings over to police.
Harris was charged with murder and armed robbery in Perillo's death. He is being held without bail.

In 1997, just weeks after he was released from jail on an armed robbery conviction, Harris invaded the home of a woman, beating and raping her repeatedly over several hours, prosecutors said.

Harris then slit the victim's throat, knocked her unconscious and set her house on fire. The woman woke up with her legs in flames and suffered third-degree burns but survived.

In this case, all that's needed to seriously improve humanity is a concrete wall, a blindfold, rifles and ammunition, and a half-dozen volunteers. Just shoot him, use his body for mulch, and be done.

A slow painful death should be in his future.

ANYONE on this or any other forum, been in the MAX wards of ATTICA, WALPOLE, LORTON, N.Mex, and many others, inside with the inmates, in/out the dining halls, running the halls, in the cell blocks and the yards.....seen the walls, and the bars first hand......screw the hollywood crap, I talking ONE TO ONE now, you know, REALITY, something liberals have never seen.....

we would ALL be in favor of a trip out back and firing squad.....NEXT CASE, tell the lawyers and families to pick up the body, we ran outta room, too much incoming....too damn bad, so sad.....

as I reduced the amount of prison cells to maybe 25% of the present count....

I USED to be a fairly liberal type guy.....but being exposed to THAT SHIT?? NFW, tired of some liberal lawyer making a living by enslaving society to the whims of the crooks.....

Cremate their bodies, throw the ashes in the local landfill.

(Cremate - thats just such an odd word for burning a body, sounds like something you put in your coffee.)

<ron white>I’m from Texas. In Texas we have the death penalty and we USE IT! That’s right… if you come to Texas and kill somebody, we kill you back. That’s our policy. They’re trying to push a bill right now in the Texas legislature that’ll speed up the process of execution in heinous crimes where there are more than three credible eye witnesses. If more than three people saw you do what you did, you don’t sit on death row for fifteen years, you go straight to the front of the line. Other states are trying to abolish the death penalty. My state is putting in an express lane.<ron white> :seasix:

I disagree. I say you lock him in a big ass room w/ 100 others just like him and walk away. No lights, no windows, no food, no water. Come back in a month.

Actually, I think "no water" is a mistake. Seal the room except for a vent (with a metal grate) at the top, and slowly fill the room with water.
