I've been watching this since 7pm tonight.....I was 6 yrs old in '69, and all I remember was the nightly news with the body counts, flashing across the B&W TV screen every night........My uncle was in Nam, and he's still a bit "off"....He saw the worst over there......:sadangel:.....Nasty crap that our government had us in, there.....shaking head.....

My first supervisor (early 80s) had lost a leg at Dak To. I still remember in detail his story of the day it happened. I never knew much about the battle itself, until I saw this program the other night.

One of the statistics they put up was interesting. Infantrymen in WW2 experienced an average of 10 days of combat a year. Infantrymen in Vietnam experienced close to 260 days of combat per year.

One of my favorite books about the air war is 'Phantom of Vietnam'. It's about an F-4 pilot and goes into good detail about flying and the missions.
