I've been in this old farm house for almost 5 years now, and gutted the house interior, and made it comfortable, now it's my barn's turn ...:hurray:
The back roof will cost $6800.00 for metal, up to 12 rafter tails, and new fascia. A complete metal ridge cap also.... 1st things 1st....I guess I'll go from the top down.....:seasix: I cleared the back of it from trees and debris, so the roof will be started in January sometime....

My question too. Man that thing has A LOT of potential!!

Surprisingly no, I have no inside pics.... There are 6 horse stalls in there, and room for three cars. I keep my friends sled in there during the summer, and his dirt bikes in there during the winter. My lawn tractor, snow blower, and all of the usual crap...There is a great work bench along the back wall, and cabinets from the old gutted kitchen for storage. I wired it for 220, and my generator & compressor, and have to basically just strip & paint the interior. It's gonna be a labor of love......I'd like to tear the floor out, as it was an cow barn back in the 40's and 50's, and put a lift in.....:shots:

This is the front of the barn , which has a 6 yr old roof on it, and some of the clearing that took place. Two silo bases had to be jack hammered out...That was damn fun to watch..:yesnod: New septic too....One of two that the house has. That back courtyard was a forested, viney mess.

I'm confused. Is that your house attached to the barn, or is that some other structure attached to the barn? :confused5:

Ya, the white thing is my house.

Very cool and a labor of love! Some beautiful country up there. That a pretty good sized barn for any private farm. :cert:
Getting that silo base out had to be a bish! How deep was the foundation footed?

It's a 100'x40' barn....They went down 2' below grade , and quit breaking up the silo bases....Who knows how deep they are....? The farm was owned by the guy who owned the now defunct Buffalo China....It was a huge company from the early 1900's to around 1985, when they were bought, and moved to China.

Damn... silo was down there a ways, but I'm sure it was built with old heavy steel and not the modern glas or aluminum units.
Cool find! Looks like it's well worth the elbow grease. :cert:

Here's the front. Pardon the massive tree that was just cut down in the front, (last summer)You cant really even see the barn from up there. The property just goes back....To a stream, then a pond farther back. Ya, It's a perfect property, but definitely needs elbow grease. Well, I moved out of a brand new 3300 sqft house up the same street, just for the privacy of this place.

I found a pic of the back, where the courtyard is, and is cleared now..
And the front, before it was cleared...

Holy Hell! No wonder that tree up front had to go. A ticking time bomb with all the snow that falls there.
If you enjoy the solitude, that is the place to enjoy it. :yesnod:
Lots of woods and some fishing in the streams.
Good luck with the resto. Will be cool to see update pics in the future.

The inside was a time warp...Check out the kitchen. It's been 5 years since we did this, already....Time and money....That's all.:notfunny: That's the leather jacket that I lost in the move.... Oh ya, the backsplash isn't on yet in that pic

Your roofers are going to love you. Roofing that place in the middle of winter is cruel punishment.
Looks like you have a lot of work to do Jeff.
I didn`t know they had land like that available in Buffalo.
Oh and you need to stay away from the tanning beds cause you are one dark mofo.

Ya, I wouldn't want to be up there in the cold....They work through the winter though.
I'm actually 13 miles SE of the city....There's plenty of open space outside the 3rd ring....:cert:

I like doing projects like these. Looks like you have made nice progress already. :cert: Take some pics of inside the barn for us too. :D Especially since you will want to compare the before and after. :cool1:
