View Full Version : Did well in Brooksville. [racing]

Just finished a 2 day NCCC Sanctioned event in Brooksville. It's a 2-day format, with 7 events each day, 2 laps per event. 28 total laps over two days. I won all 14 events, had FTD both days, and was 2+ seconds faster than the 2nd place car, both days. :hurray:
SCCA > NCCC, so I expected to dominate going in, but I had a blast and got some fantastic video and data for my daughter's science project. Will post some videos tomorrow. Last year's Florida NCCC Autocross Season Champion was in attendance. :datawiz:
On a more important note, this was the first event post-surgery on my car. I was a little nervous going in since the rebuild was substantial, but the old girl kicked ass as usual. :angel:

How many people there were on slicks?
Does the guy who won Florida NCCC last year have his car set up just to autocross like you do?
Was Michael there? (Our CF friend who is military.)
Sassy...is HPDE what you're going to run when you have your car ready?

2 other C6 Z06's on slicks. At least 10-12 others on slicks as well.

Last year's champ actually drives a C6, non Z.

Michael was there, in fact, I stayed at his house. We each took 8 laps in our own cars and then swapped for 4 laps. Michael impressed with going 2nd place FTD in my car. I ran a 40.338, he ran a 41.88 and the best C6 Z06 ran a 42.5.
I ran a 43.4 in his car, putting it in the 4th overall best time of the day. Amazing the difference between a prepared car on slicks and a stock one (intake/tune) on street tires. Even though his car is faster in a straight line, you just can't use it. Car is always not in control, waiting for grip to come in.

Geraghty Anne's 8th Grade Science Fair Project is on the physics of autocross. She has been at numerous events with me logging time differences for tire pressure changes, shock changes, sway bar changes, tire compound changes, with the final exam of me driving Mike's Z06 and Mine in the same event, now 2, and comparing the times. On a 40 second course (today), my car was 3 seconds faster. On a 60 second course, it was 4+ faster. It's a cool project. :yesnod:
