Utah quality phone pic.

This is a bridge in Coloma, CA right where they first discovered gold and started the Gold Rush.

Great place to camp right along the south fork of the American river.

I swear I could feel the bridge move as I drove over it. I had about 4" to 6" on each side.

You were closer on height than you were on width.

The river was a ways down. I think we could survive the fall but my 10 year old said, "Dad, we could probably survive the fall but the bridge coming down on top of us would squish us like a pancake."

Too smart for being 10.

when I was driving a 7ft wide, 26ft long truck through Cincinnati heading across the river to Kentucky, there was major construction going on for about 5-8 miles, that guaranteed 7'6" clearance. Man, it was a nail biter, but I did it, and not a nick on the truck! The alternative route was about a 100 miles out of my way, so I took a chance (not my truck ) I remember being sooooo proud of myself, eye of the needle for sure!!!:seasix:

The German Autobahn is notorious for creating super narrow lanes with twists and turns during the non-stop construction. When you come along side a large truck it makes you pucker!!!

I know the feeling!

Railroad trestle, clipped the AC units.

And I am almost certain you are taller than 12'7'', unless they did not change the tires when they went to the 400HP engine.

I don't even remember where it was, but we had to go over a bridge under construction like that years ago. Driving a crew cab dually and a 36' tag along. Seemed like an inch on each side, but it was probably 8-10. Very stressful, managed to not hit anything.

I fit in a 12' 8" RV wash (barely!!)

I have the ISC 350 Cummins with the Allison.

Post up some pics of that beauty!

(I think my tires are 285 22.5)

As you know the trick is to look straight ahead and keep it straight. When people focus on the sides that is when they feck up.

In my trucking days, I also saw a couple of trucks that took detours and didn't quite make it under some old overpasses! If they were going fast enough, they ended up with convertible trailers, and sometimes, they were stuck for hours! Deflate all the tires, blah, blah. One guy I know took back a Penske rental with no top on the back 20+ft box! Thank God for insurance!

I though that was probably the case, makes more sense than stopping it and climbing through the window. :D

Cool picture, I would imagine there are a ton of great places to explore and see in your neck of the woods. :cert:

Do it at 55 MPH and I'll be impressed.

:D I've done similar moves in a parking deck with a service vehicle with a ladder rack. :willy: I couldn't imagine doing it in something that expensive!!

I honestly wasn't nervous until I thought I felt the bridge move under the weight of the coach. That made me pucker.

been to watkins glen in the last few years? there's ~20 miles of narrow construction just like that.
