View Full Version : Wedding Frolicking Last Night

Dawn and I went to a wedding last night. The reception was at a VERY exclusive joint in MPLS. Seating for 300, open bar, people from 19 states were represented. The brides daddy has a boatload of money.

I could go on and on about the amenities and so forth. For us, the kicker was this: They flew in a Bishop Emeritus from out of state to wed the young couple. Complete with funky Bishop hat and staff.

I could have watched the valet parking staff roll cars out all night. The entire thing was so over the top it was ridiculous, bordering on obscene.

:iagree: I never understand why people go for these over the top weddings. I would rather have the money for a house or car.

Ativan and Xanax along with a host of other meds including the liquid kind might help.:D :grouphug:

This sounds like the type of party where the only person taking pics is the person hired to do so.

or "new boots" :D

That is true but I don't buy expensive things which is one reason I am still looking for a pair in my price range.

Ativan is like a spoon full of dirt. Just like Flexaril, does absolutely nothing.

I never understand why people go for these over the top weddings.

A friend of mine recently went to the the wedding of the daughter of a business owner who came here from India. Totally over the top wedding that took a number of days from beginning to end. When my friend asked his boss, who is also an Indian immigrant why so much was spent on the wedding, his boss told him that if he didn't, he would be a disgrace to his family back in India. I guess it all depends on what caste you're born into, whether it be Indian, or American.

I would rather have the money for a house or car.

Undoubtedly, they'll be getting that too.

It must be nice to be rich.

Name me one single couple you know that had a big expensive wedding and are still married after 10 years.

Our wedding cost my wife and I $500 or so. My FIL gave us $1000 and we used it for living expenses (he was happy about that.) Still married after 25+ years. We didn't even have a reception and spent our honeymoon in a tent.
