WTF?
OccupyMARINES (http://occupymarines.org/)
This douche bag is appropriating the Marines brand to line his pockets.
Thus, my email to the Marines.
To whom it may concern,
I'm reporting this apparent trademark infringement in the interest of protecting the reputation and integrity of the Marines.
This web site OccupyMARINES (http://occupymarines.org/) is clearly attempting to use the name and symbol of the Marines in an effort to mislead people into believing that it is endorsed or supported by the greatest armed force in the world.
As a marketing professional and patriot, I believe that a reasonable person would be misled and that a perceived alignment with the Wall Street protesters does not represent the Marines brand appropriately.
If you are not the right person to handle this issue, please forward this email to the appropriate person.
Thank you for your service.
Semper Fi.

On Monday I'm going to call my contacts in the Army to see if they can help me figure out how to reach the people in legal.
I know they will shut this idiot down. They take their brand seriously. And they should.

Agreed.
According to The Examiner:
The United States Marine Corps has filed a DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act) notice against several Second Life residents who were recreating artifacts and uniforms bearing the USMC logo.
Unlike prior DMCA's Linden Lab has enforced, there was no advance notification to the SL residents involved. And, the involuntary removal of these items appeared to only be from the SL Marketplace. Residents were contacted by letter notifying them of the action after it was carried out.

This would be the best one to notify:

However, as a 501(c) nonprofit, that site's logo usage will not be viewed as commercial, the trademark/licensing division ultimately has the final say in how/where the logo can be used.

I see a well-deserved ass-kicking in the future.
That got to be a few ass holes trying to make money by pocketing donations. There are already hundreds of programs to help wounded warriors etc. This one looks very flakey.

Great! Thanks. That guy isn't a non-profit yet. In fact, it can take 6-8 months to get the gov cert after filing.
And I'm doubting this idiot will ever do it anyway.
email sent.
