I have a picture of the Vette that crashed today down here in the Keys on my cell phone that someone sent to me as an MMI. I don't have a memory card in my phone, so it won't let me save it. If someone PM's me their cell phone #, I'll forward it to you and you can post it for me.

TIA

Driver was 100% fine. He is EXTREMELY lucky he hit that tree with the bottom of the car. If it hit his driver's door, I think it would have ended badly. That is a VERY fast section of the track. I'm doing 115 at that point in my car and his was supercharged.

I was one of the six guys who went to the wreck site to extricate the car. This picture does not do the wreck justice.

I will get some more pictures tonight from people who took pictures. The roof is gone, both front fenders and the hood are gone. Both front upper control arms are shattered, one of the rims was cracked. It was in very rough shape. I'm very happy the driver walked away.

When I post videos, I'll put some text on one of them to show you where he loses it. There is a dip in that fast, blind sweeper that unloads the suspension. All that horsepower, street tires, damp road, and maybe a bit of inexperience all contributed to this massive wreck.

The infamous dip everyone was talking about. I hate to say it but I am relived that I wasn't able to do the bay bottom crawl for this very reason

This dip is not the "infamous" dip. He was heading into station 3. The dip is AFTER station 3 in the hairpin turn. Because of the speeds involved, this dip can be more dangerous. My car is fine over it, flat out, but him, with a supercharger and street tires and stock suspension, I think it was a recipe for disaster.

Told you guys this was a dangerous event. :yesnod:

At the least, the car went out doing what it was meant to do.

Glad the driver is okay.

I've seen some pretty "used" corvettes at Phoenix Performance ( not only do they build 'em, they fix 'em too ) and even the clearly totaled ones still had plenty of room in the cockpit.

3rd driver, 1st run. Course was very damp. You can see the puddles on the side of the road going into station 3. Car slid under braking going into 6, hands got crossed up in the transitions, the rest is history.

A Subi WRX STi got totaled after I left. Was a brutal weekend. In the big scheme of things, my damage is minimal. I can fix it all myself. :yesnod:
