New 3 part series on the "law that was doomed to fail". starts on PBS tonight. I've always been a student of the 20's. Looking forward to watching this tonight.

Why bother to watch the documentary? You can just watch the news and see another "law that was doomed to fail" being reported on nightly.....the War on Drugs.

Of course, I'm sure that one is going much better than Prohibition. After all, we don't see the unchanged demand, violence and the easy access to the product that we saw during Prohibition.....oh, wait.......nevermind.



Edit: of course, Prohibition did bring us NASCAR, so I am sure the WoD will probably yield some future benefit as well.

Too bad the goons that made our little "war on drugs" such a miserable failure would get some information out of it. Prohibition doesn't work. Period. Just creates crime and mayhem.

NASCAR, Offshore Powerboat Racing and Swampbuggy racing can all trace either their very existence, or at least great early technological advances, directly to running from The Man... bodes well for 'clandestine border crossing" and "competitive contraband smuggling" to become Olympic sports in the not-too-distant future...
