View Full Version : Colonial Downs Corvette Gathering...June ***Sign up extended until 18 Jun 10***

Colonial downs is offering to host a "gathering" of corvettes, all ages, on June 19 in New Kent, Virginia. We would get admission and billing and VIP group parking immediately beside the grandstand. I'm meeting with them next week to further discuss options/arrangements. This is one of their premier race days AND live bands / micro-brewery stuff ! You can go on line and review activities already planned for that day....This would NOT be a car show...jusa a showing of our cars and a hell-of -a get together !!! PM me asap your thoughts about the date/activities etc. ONE negative...any cars comming to park in the select VIP ares must arrive before the first race and stay 'till the last. that would be roughly from 11:30 to 5:30. Gene As of April 27 we are a go for this event and they would like 60-70 cars if we can muster up that many and any registration fee we acess ourselves would be 100% to a known charity There is a "Bike" show there the same day and we can piggy-back registration/charity with them.

This sounds like it could be fun just like everyone else it's far off to say for sure but I will keep this in mine and will keep looking for updates.

I tend to stay out of New Kent county (unless i'm in a group of Corvettes) after my 2 run-ins with Officer Rainey. :toetap:

I don't need a 3rd reminder that my 35% tint is illegal in Va.:fingertap:

I've never done Colonial Downs, and have always wanted too. The Date is a little too far out for me to make a commitment, but I'm defiantly interested.

Well, I know how my day is SUPPOSED to go tomorrow, but there is no telling how it will actually go down.

It sounds fun, and would be a cool caravan up there, but it is still too far out to commit.

June 19.. IS A GO for a Vette outting. Go to www. Colonial Downs.com and click on activities / events to see what is going on at the track. There will be micro-brew tasting [ 25 different ones ], the band Soular Eclipse, four international flair food venders and the races will be the half million dollar purse Colonial Derby, You will have "special" parking near the rails so you can bring your own chair/tent/blankets and stay with the car or walk a few feet to sit in AC, et.al. Will POAST more info in late April ref . reg/directions. Gene

I'm not sure I can make it. I don't think I get back from my trip until June 19. This work thing is really cutting into my 'Vette time'. :D

Bikers Against Child Abuse is the charity for Colonial Down event as they are having a bike show that day also, so we can piggy-back a donation to that named charity. CD built us a new, smooth entry road up to the VIP area and I looked at it last weekend. Should be having the final planning meeting next week and I'll post up more info. Keep this on your calendar . Two parking areas available..one up close for those staying for the entire time and one outsise if you may have to leave earlier .

Planning meeting held today...60 "at track parking" available specifically for us VERY close to "Beverage" and food concession area. Port Dawg will have more detailed info comming in a few days. We can bring more than 60 cars and they will be grouped together but will be outside the viewing area. Have arm band gate passes available for driver, passengers AND friends in other vehicles parking in general parking BUT must be requested in advance. Total of $15 check to B.A.C.A. as donation [Bikers Against Child Abuse ] will get you in. SEE COLONIAL DOWNS website for additional info on the days total activities ! June 19th and this is Thououghbred racing....

Went to Williamsburg cruise-in last night...Great Folks ! Beautiful venue ! My K-9 Joe had a blast...handed out five reg. forms and a few fliers....Colonial club covered. HOPING FOR 50 CARS

I have a board meeting with one of the choruses I sing with, we are flying in a consultant to help us streamline things on a business and music management aspect. But I will be there with you in spirit. :cheers:

Looks like we won't be able to make this. Wife let someone go at work and says she has to spend the weekend finishing their reports for Monday.:banghead:

I tried to make this today but I was in traffic from the start it was a bad day to be on the road. I was stuck on 64 for a long time after I seen I was going to be way too late I turned around and was stuck in traffic going the other way. :toetap:
I hope it was a good time for those that made it.

Yeah we heard I64 was shut down for a while. Also.. heard that a 61 or 62 vette got smacked on I64 this AM.
