Kidney Stone #3 for me reared its ugly head at 11:30pm last night.

Drove myself to hospital.

Got a ride home from security guard (morphine) at 2:30am.

Walked back at 4:30am and drove my car home.

Finally got some shut-eye at 5:30am.

Woke up at 7:30am and THANK GOD I passed it.

Scared the piss out of me, usually feel the pain in the kidney first, didn't feel this one until it was in my lower abdomen on the right side. Thought it was my appendix.

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE BILL MY SUPER AWESOME UNIVERSITY INSURANCE WILL ONLY PAY 80% OF !!!!!

Do you know what type of stones you are producing?

No. I collected it as per E.R. doc's instructions, he wants me to set up an appointment with a urologist.

UGH. I have lived a very low sodium life-style for years now since the first two, and have increased my water intake. Lately I've slipped slightly, not drinking much water and drinking about a 12-pack of diet soda a week. But I never felt like I was being bad enough to go through this again.

I guess I'm going to have to force 2 pitchers of water a day down my throat for the rest of my life or something.

The uro will likely be able to help you reduce the number of stones you produce.

Good luck. Since I got a new urologist he's given me a whole laundry list of things to do.

You can send the stones off yourself to a lab (search online, they're there) and they can test them and find out what they're made of. Then avoid whatever produces that kind of stone (there are 4 types).

Forget the sodas, stick with water and lots of it. I haven't had a stone in 2 years.

I passed a kid stone when helping the first ex move into our apt together....thought I would die....but lucky never had any since....I drink light weight lo octane beer, so it's keeping the stones down a bit, I think....

course maybe I just don't FEEL them anymore.....
