Cars & Coffee is held on the first Saturday of every month.... Sunday or the following Saturday rain dates depending on forecast.

Originally started in Irvine, CA at a strip mall on the PCH, the Cars & Coffee idea has steadily spread to various areas across the country. Here in Virginia Beach we have the beach, we have the sports cars in the area, and we have plenty of coffee so it seemed a logical fit to start a Cars & Coffee event around here.... This is an informal hangout for mature car enthusiasts who enjoy an early morning drive and a cup of coffee.

Are you normally busy on Saturdays with a list of honey-do's or family commitments? Well that's perfectly fine because you can be back home before your spouse is even up ;) Enjoy your car hobby and still enjoy the rest of your day.

Cars & Coffee Virginia beach is held at La Promenade shops off of Laskin road which has ample parking, pleasant surroundings, and an excellent local coffee house on location.

Zeus posted a C&C in Nova a few months ago after the 1st snow and it was pretty cool. The temperature was cold and the roads weren't the best, but people brought their cars out for a few hours. It wasn't just an import gathering which is cool. If I wanted to see only Corvettes I'd go to Waterside or Carlisle. There was 3 other Vettes, a Viper, Ferrari, Aston Martin and bunch of Benz, Porsche and BMWs; oh and a Saleen S7.

It was good to see a group of car enthusiast stand around and comment on others cars without any (very few) snotty remarks. Everyone was admiring everyone's car.

Yeah that's the whole idea... get a great variation of cars out. The thread on the local board has really gotten some legs. Looks like we're going to shoot for the morning of the Waterside Corvette show... Waterside starts at 9 so there would be plenty of time to get up for some coffee then cruise over to Norfolk.

The ball is rolling... I'll keep this thread updated when we have a location/date/time locked down for the first one. It's looking like we're going to do April 10th (yes the day of the waterside show), but early so it'll start before. This won't be about fund raising or anything... just creating a mature car hangout and attracing some of the nicer cars in the area. Not that you have to have a nice car (I don't equate a C5 to a Ferrari) but it'd be cool to create an atmosphere where the owners of those cars around here want to come out.

To all you bozos who don't understand the concept of time ;) This is 8am to 10am... Waterside is 9am to 12pm arrival then 12pm - 3pm the "show".

Southside Corvette guys are going to meet up at Shorebreak in the AM then cruise to the waterside event. I'm going to do this then go to Waterside between 10 and 11.

I know, I was beat by a smart car....BUT it was my first time on an auto-cross track. The distance between the cones was really not Vette friendly. :toetap:

I know the Vette is not the "ultimate" car and there are a lot out there that can take them on, but it is like you said, Time slips don't like, AND Put your $$$ where your mouth is.

It has come to my attention that an automotive marketing firm that goes by carsandcoffee.info has followed my trail to the Hampton Roads area. I originally approached them when thinking about starting the Cars & Coffee idea here in Va Beach thinking they had some kind of ownership rights to the name; they do not. They offered to sell me a marketing package for $3500 and I kindly declined.

Of late I have received phone calls asking me to discuss my "operation" with them and discuss the use of the name. It turns out they sold their marketing package to a local car dealership franchise.

I just wanted to bring it up to everyone's attention if you start seeing anything about Cars and Coffee Hampton Roads.... they are not the same thing.

Forget about the contact from the "automotive marketing firm". It is just some guy sitting on the domain on Godaddy.com hoping to make a buck off of someone else's idea, it happens all the time.

I registered a couple of sites. I got emails saying I had their domain, I told them I have it and they don't. Then they wanted to join forces to share the domain and my reply was less than positive. They finally gave up and moved on.

They run a site called carsandcoffee.info and I contacted them when I had the idea originally thinking they had some type of ownership rights; they don't. Here's the package they wanted to sell me for $3500/yr.. note the part where they explicitly say they do not have rigthts to the "Cars & Coffee" name:

We do the following for $3,500.00 per year and a reduced rate in year two:


Give use of our logo
Give unlimited email addresses
Write press release announcing your group and what your group is doing
Give one year full tech support including upload of images, text, links, sponsor banners, etc.
Give revenue share for advertisers we post to your page or sponsors we bring to your event that you approve


We do "not" grant anyone permission to hold a Cars and Coffee event. The term Cars and Coffee is as commonplace as "Kleenex" and "Xerox" and has been used loosely by car clubs and even Dupont Registry for their weekend gatherings for well over a decade.

So basically they created a website for C&C hampton roads as a subsite of their website and made a "press release" which was nothing more than creating a HR section on their forums and making a post in it.

Yet they have hired some independent local marketing firm called seven (something) marketing to call and bug me... basically I told them I didn't want their product, they saw the good turnout/interest, then sent someone here to sell their "package" to somebody. They're more than welcome to do that... it's tacky, but to call me and try and tell me I can't use the cars and coffee words is unprofessional. I know for a fact that they do not have it trademarked... a gentleman in GA does.

Hmmm.... I guess it depends on the year... through '99 or maybe '00 they had forged pistons, after that they were cast. If it was a later car then it can't take as much boost. Plust the '99s had the strongest cam of the bunch.... they changed it for emissions the year later, you can hear the difference in the lope at idle.

I think you'd have fared better than you suspect.... your power band is better for a highway roll race.... **** it's better for most everything. A v10 w/ a twin screw = spin all day.

Ummm never mind, the car is at Farm Fresh waiting to be towed back to VA Speed for them to fix. I went to start it and it revved to over 3K with no pedal response. I got the reduced power message so I just shut it off. I swear its always something.

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier. We usually TRY to park together, but it is also a first come first serve so if we have spaces together we grab them.

It usually goes from 7:30-8ish to about 10ish. There was a handful of us (vettebarn peep) there today (at least 6)

UPDATE 2/29/12:The current forecast is for rain and more rain. If it's more than a sprinkle we'll postpone until the following Saturday the 10th. Basically if you wake up and it's raining or raining in VB then the event is postponed. I'll update things Friday night and Saturday AM.
