Spend all day getting mission critical stuff together for fast bug out (if needed). Good lord we have a shit ton of photos.

We pulled together:

Tax returns
Photos
I.D. (birth certs, ss cards, etc.)
Hard drives (have lots of drives storing video)
Video tape (original masters before we went 100% digital)
Clothing for two days
Meds
Weapons

Still need to pull together the kid's irreplaceable stuff -he's got a ton of artifacts ranging from fossils to early man stuff.

Also wife has some stuff from her mom she wants to keep. I reminded her we'll need room for two GSDs. I'm betting my wife will force me to rescue the hedgehog too.

The huge challenge is how we are situated - right on the edge of the forest. If there is a fire, we'll have very little time to react.

Plan is:

1. Move 64 across the street
2. Load truck with pre-prepared containers/dogs
3. Move truck and stuff away from fire to secure stuff
3a. if time allows attempt to thwart fire by wetting yard, trees, house (unlikely)
4. Split up - Drop off 64 at secure location
5. Go "somewhere" - don't know where yet.

We'll be living like this until it rains.

I'd suggest going ahead and watering the lawn front and back - soak it as well as you can unless it affects water pressure for the fire fighters.

On a positive note, the Federal Government has approved a new improved rain gauge just for Texas
