I still have several things to do on my kitchen cabinet project, but you can start to see the end in site. I hung all the doors using the satin nickel hardware I was originally using. I don't hate it, but I don't love it.
I bought a pair of black hinges today and installed them on one of the doors so I could see how that looked. I like the black hinges better than the satin nickel because they blend in. I'm not a fan of exposed hinges. I also think mixing black hinges with satin nickel pulls is a big no-no.
So, what does VBOT think? Satin Nickel, Black, Something else...

I actually like the satin knobs with the black hinges. I think the satin hinges are too "blingy."

The cabinets came out looking GREAT, btw. And I loved the wood look before; generally, I don't like to see good wood covered in paint.

Is that not a designer "faux pas" to mix hardware? :bilmem:

Meh. Get what you want.
If it makes you cringe to see the mixed hardware, don't go that way.

I don't know....My recommendation .....Let your significant other pick....:yesnod:
I'm a big fan of satin metal.
However, our opinions are not relevant. We really need LATB to chime in.

How about satin nickel pulls and use the hidden hinges so you don't even see them?

It would take a lot of modification to use the hidden hinges. I would have to install blocking inside the cabinets and mortise out the hole in the doors.
Just not worth it.

Chrome would be blingy.
And I'd think I'd like the chome with the black, but I'd have to see it.

I prefer the satin for the contrast.
Whatever you choose, pick one finish for everything, otherwise it looks like you changed your mind half way through the project.
Black hinges with Satin Nickel pulls .

I'm going to go against the grain here and suggest the satin nickel.

Satin Nickel, and while you're at it match the cabinet toekicks to the cabinets instead of the trim, update your switches, update the countertop, sink, and faucet, I have no idea what's going on with what looks like the angular painted backsplash areas. I'm sure there's more but those are the obvious things I can see from those pics :slap:

:iagree: You can always keep the satin hinges and swap them out for the black ones if you put the house on the market.

That's on the to-do list. I just installed them yesterday and was to tired to caulk, tape, and paint. They'll be black.
update your switches
You mean get these switches...?

I've thought about updating the whole house to those, but figured I'd be the only one to notice.
update the countertop, sink, and faucet
I agree they all suck. We'll see about $$$$. This is a cookie cutter type house, so I'm already above the norm for the neighborhood.

Yeah. I have no idea why they did that. It's not painted. The backsplash is the same material as the countertop. It is what it is.
