View Full Version : My new ride - Cadillac

Well I decided to sell the Z06, nice gentleman flew in from Dallas and drove it home. I really hated to see it go but I just did not drive it.

I decided to get a Cadillac CTS. I really enjoy this car, very quiet, rides smooth and has good power.

Local dealer had to trade with dealer in Atlanta, plus much of inventory in this area is suspect to hail damage. Really wanted silver ext. and black int.

One drawback, GM decided to put a flash to pass option in (really in respect to the HID's) so what that means for me is I can no longer hold the blinker pulled towards me to engage the high/low beams at the same time. Now it will only flash the high beams momentarily. Not sure why GM decided to do this but it will take some getting used to.

decided to get a Cadillac CTS.

What a nice car !!!

just two weekends ago Yvonne had me at the local Caddy dealer, looking the 2 door version of that car. Even got to the point where the salesman had us in his office; doign the offer/counter-offer chat.

Couldn't reach an agreement - with her SRX as a trade-in; so no deal :(

I looked at the two door and was equally impressed. My thoughts was inventory was a little harder to find.

I was after the Crystal Red but with black interior the only ones available were far away. Too far for the dealer to trade.

Cadillac isn't your dads car any longer. They are making some kick ass cars these days. This is one of them. If I was ever in the market for a car, the CTS Coupe would be the first and last place I looked.

Thanks, I hate seeing it go also, but I just did not drive it and kind of was losing interest in it.

Dad has a '69 Vert since day one and I need to spend some time getting it on the road. Car only has 75k original miles. I got everything ready on it but I am having trouble with the brakes pulling hard to one side. Once the brake fluid heats up it gets much better. He also wants me to put all the smog stuff back on just like new. He has the stuff in the garage but I got to find it. :D

Crazy; that's the only exterior color Yvonne wanted; and they had one on the showroom floor. Exactly what she wanted except... except it had the tan interior; and she really doesn't like that color combo (red exterior with tan interior).

But if they would of dealt on her trade in, she'd be driving it right now.

looked just like this one; even had the special front grilles:

http://images.dealerrevs.com/gallery/photo.php?id=40376497

the salesman came right out & said that they didn't have to deal on the 2 door coupe; high demand... low inventory.

I did not, the dealer had the sedan and coupe there. Both had hail damage IIRC (had been fixed) and they were not discounted.

I saw that on top gear, the wagon was impressive as well.

I figure if I drove one I would want one.

Oh I like that..... I too do not care for the tan interior, heck I do not like the light gray either. You are in OH which is not far away but I guess that car bounced due to the interior color.

Exactly, I just want a smooth quiet ride. There is alot of sound dampening materials on this car, very impressed.

One thing GM and others need to do is start offering privacy glass on cars. SUV's have it why not cars.....

I would love to have it tinted but can't get past that means Earl will be climbing all around the inside of the car.

Trust me I have never done that, it pisses me off to the max when someone can't dim their lights. This method allows me a super response time to kick back to low.

I have been asked about driving this way, guess it is an odd habit. I have been told it reduces vehicle safety as well. I argue that statement but each their own. (not on the site however)

important to note that the two-wheel version is rear wheel drive. With our roads here in the winter, front wheel drive is a minimum; Yvonne was pricing the AWD version.

It's the 3.6L AWD Performance version. They say it gets 18/27 but I bet it's closer to 16/22. I know my 2011 coupe does much better than the Caddy.

in our 'neck... at night it's too risky with all the deer and other wild animals. I always use the "retinal burn" mode on my vehicles on the rare occasion I find myself on the roads after dark. Of course - though - I never do that with another car in front of me. :nono:

I have lived my entire life in rural areas with deer and all sorts of other critters running around and I drive a LOT at night. I use the brights all the time unless there are other cars around... would never even think about holding the lever back the whole time. Having the lows on top of the highs isn't adding anything to your lighted field, like putting a match on a fire.

Oh well, to each his own.

I differ a little on that, when in Retinal burn mode, the lows continue to light the ground and the highs will give you better lighting above that. With just the highs on I see decreased lighting closer to road and on the sides.

Personal preference I guess, I usually hold the wheel at 9.00 and catch the blinker with my ring finger. Never gave it a thought, until I drove the CTS at night.

My 2500HD has fog lights and when in retinal burn mode it turns them off.

The side covers are an option. Back in the right is the brake fluid and coolant.

Power steering reservoir is under center cover.

Heck the bottom of the engine is covered by a platic shroud that has to be removed to change the oil.

2011's are covered under PM for 4 years IIRC. However I will be doing the oil changes.

The car does want the new Dexos oil.
