View Full Version : For The First Time In Over Two Years...

...it looks like I'm gonna join the ranks of the employed!
I've been happily going along with the whole full-time student gig. Down to 6 classes left. I went and had lunch with a recruiter that I used to work with quite often when I was in the Aerospace business. Just to shoot the shit and catch up. She says to me "Are you ever planning on working again?"
 "Yesssss...I am. But I've been away from 3D packaging design work for over two years, I still have a school schedule and the economy sucks." She said she might have a possibility. Would I be interested. Sure...OK...whatever. You gonna finish those chips?
Two days later I get a call. "You start on Sept. 12" Huh??? No interview? Nope. They want you. :o_o: Good rate, willing to work with the school schedule and going to give me ramp-up time on the software. With this economy, I'd be stupid not to accept. I'll be designing interiors for business jets (e.g. Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer).
Wish me luck bitches...this should be fun! :seeya:

Nice going IC!
If you can make the inside of a plane feel more like a car, or my couch at home you may get me on a plane again.
As far as I'm concerned flying is for crazy people.

Make the overhead compartments bigger and the seats farther apart.
Eliminate the overhead compartments entirely so we can get on and off the airplane in a reasonable amount of time.

I'm using the Autodesk Product Design Suite 2012, Ultimate Edition. it includes a boatload of software, including Inventor Professional and 3ds Max. If you haven't used Autodesk products in a few years, I think you'll be surprised at how far they've come along! Have fun modeling.

Thanks. I've used AutoCAD 2010 at my last job before I started to morph into the IT area. It was all I was working on for the first few years of my career until Pro/ENGINEER and CATIA came into use. I always liked AutoDesk products tho.
I can purchase AutoDesk Design Suite for about $200 and Solid Works for the same through the University, so I'm gonna go order and get moving. :D
Question: Big differences between AutoCAD 2011 and 2012? :bigears:

It doesn't suck to be sure. I had a good resume going in (25+ years in some fairly major military and commercial programs) so that doesn't hurt.
This just literally fell into my lap. Given the current economic conditions and seeing what folks are going through around the country, I consider myself extremely lucky and very grateful to have this opportunity. :yesnod:

I don't really feck around in 2D much, but I can tell you that 2012 is a lot cleaner. There's this whole "ribbon" deal they've added, which is quite nice as far as leaving lots of real estate for drawing. Can't really say what other features they've added, since I spend most of my time in Inventor. The only time I open AutoCAD is for our plasma table parts. Those still need to be saved in AutoCAD 2004 format.
