CLARENDON COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Three cousins were killed and two children were airlifted to the hospital Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle accident east of Manning.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said Ella Nora Williams, 43, was killed when the GMC Yukon she was driving collided with a Chevy Impala on Hwy 521. Williams' 65-year-old mother, Emma Jane Williams, was a passenger in the Yukon and also died, according to the Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Impala, Thelma McDowell, 57, was also killed in the accident. Troopers said McDowell was a first cousin of Emma Williams and a second cousin of Ella Williams.
Ella Williams' 10-year-old daughter, Alexandria Williams, was airlifted to MUSC in Charleston with stomach bleeding, cuts and bruises. Emma Williams' 6-year-old grandson, Kevon Myers, was also airlifted because of internal injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the Yukon was heading south on 521 and the Impala was heading north on 521 toward Sumter when they collided. Troopers said Ella Williams was not wearing a seatbelt.
Emma Williams and McDowell were wearing seatbelts, according to the Highway Patrol. Troopers said McDowell was driving home from work.
