View Full Version : What do you do to make work fun?
As many of you may know I don't really like my job. I give myself pep talks on the way in to try and cheer myself up but that doesn't last very long. Lately I have found a way to have fun at work by honing my ninja skills.
I have to disconnect a lot of peoples cable because they don't pay their bill and more often than not these people are home watching TV during the day for whatever reason. Well, if their TV goes out they immediately look outside and then want to come outside and rant or lie about how they paid there bill, sometimes they even offer to pay it right there. So lately I have been scouting the house and then park down the street, get my gear ready and then creep over through the bushes or what have you and cut them off all quick and Ninja like and then haul a$$ back to my van and do a hole shot getting out of there. Yesterday I could here some woman yelling "Hey, Hey, Hey cable man" as I jumped in the van. So Sorry, me no speakie da english.
Anyway, what do you do to have fun while at work?
We all wear hard hats so the favorite past time is putting them in the freezer with or without water. Another one is leaving them on the table with just a little bit of water in them so when they plop them on their heads it is wet head.
My favorite is greasing the door knob to offices with petrolatum (vaseline) so the person turning the knob gets a little joy!!

With Vaseline, they just head to the bathroom and put their greasy hand to better use...they end up the winner.

I compare my the guy I am forced to work with, with a lot of our clients. Our company transports a lot of MR and mentally challenged people to day support/work programs. Sometimes I wonder if he should be driving the short bus or riding the short bus.
Also terminology...I love the look on people's faces when I say we are going to throw them. Or if we need to lower the stretcher, the look of fear when I say drop it.
But as you know, like Munch I hate my job too, so I have to find LOTS of things to try and make my job fun.

You just HAVE to have a sense of humor, every single fkn day.
A smile on the face goes so much further and is less stressful, I don't care what anybody says. Enjoy your day. Seek and find it. You have to make it happen without harm to others.:yesnod:

I don't know how to make my work fun that is why I'm going to keep checking back here for a good answer and then I'm going to try it.
I do enjoy my job but it would be a stretch to call it fun.

Practical jokes!
I got my Master Chief good today. Bought a remote control fart noise maker. Stuck it to the bottom of CMC chair in the CO's Conference room. We were having a all Khaki meeting, Chiefs and Officers.
When it was Master Chief turn to talk I hit the remote button. BIG old LOUD long fart noise. Should have seen the look on CMC and XO's face! Priceless!
CMC said it wasn't him. the Chief next to him disagreed with him. While myself and the other 2 chief next to me tried to contain our laughter! A little later when he went to speak, I did it again. It was awesome. We got a big laugh out of it.
My CMC is a BIG practical joker. He later walked in to my department and set the noise maker on the desk laughed about it and turned around to walk away and said "Your out of your league!"
My reply "we'll see!"
In the past yr he helped 3 other Chief play a joke on me w/ my Vette, so he had it coming!
:squirrelrun:
I love the remote control fart machine! We used to have so much fun with that.

I hide a bottle of helium in the back of the ambulance. Whenever we pick up some crackhead or druggie, before I speak to them, I take a long hit off of the helium then speak to them. I tell them I am from the "Company" and they are being recalled.................................ok not really but wouldn't it be funny? After 16 years as a paramedic, I still see stuff that amuses me. My job is fun.:dance:

Drive a Corvette to work... and then again when I drive it home and leave work and go to the gym or something... the stuff in between ain't so fun, but it pays the bills.
it's hard, but with a little creativity some fun can be had at work. I drive freight trains & sometimes when we're just stuck due to heavy freight traffic or track repair & we're sitting at a railroad crossing I'll see one of those REALLY cautious people in car pull up to the crossing & stop & look both ways & after what seems like forever they will slowly start across. that's when I let out a big loud blast of the horn & we always get a kick out of seeing them nearly jump out of their skin. yeah,I know it's mean. :D

so you're one of the *********************************************************************************************************************************************************'s that I have to wait on when I am on the road. During working hours, I REALLY dislike trains and drawbridges.

I have a friend who also is an engineer. When he was a conductor, he used to mess with the engineer by passing false info when backing to hook up to cars. He'd tell 'em it was 40, 30, 20, crash.:lolsmile:

yeah, that'll get your attention when you have to pick yourself up off the floor after slamming into a standing cut of cars. :D I used to have a conductor who slept a lot. I would sneak across the cab while he was asleep & write stuff in his conductor's report like "wake up,you melon headed SOB" or "your wife called, she said not to come back home."
