NDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indianapolis police say they've holding a man in connection with the shooting deaths of two people slain after an early morning dispute over a loud stereo.
The Indianapolis Star reports 37-year-old Edward Lay faces two preliminary counts of murder in the deaths of 37-year-old Mary Swift and 33-year-old Kelly Jinks. Lay remained jailed Saturday and also faces preliminarily charges of attempted murder for critically injuring a third person.
Indianapolis police spokesman Kendale Adams said witnesses told police Lay and Swift had argued early Friday about the volume of a stereo. Police said Lay shot Swift several times and then shot Jinks and 40-year-old Ronald Kortz II when they tried to intervene. Kortz was listed in critical condition.
