If I ever come across the Chrysler engineer that designed this cooling system, I'm going to hit him upside the head with a 2 x 4

With a nail in it

and hit him more than a few times :cuss:

Who The Fu** designs a drain plug on the side of a radiator and then puts in in a place you can't get to? According to the manual " remove the grill to drain the radiator". BULLSHIT !!!! It just lets you see where you can't get to. Whoever the mechanic was who removed the radiator before broke the little handle off the drain valve. ( I know it wasn't the original owner, he likes spending money at dealerships. ) Basically washed my driveway with antifreeze trying to get it to drain in a 5 gallon bucket.

Oh, and the snap connector for the bottom transmission line takes a special tool to get it off. What The Fu** is wrong with mechanical fittings? Every other ford or chevy radiator I've ever worked on used threaded fittings. That works perfect and no bullshit tools needed.

6 freaking hours to finish that swap.

ARGHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :shots:

I replaced one on a '91 Cherokee. As basic a vehicle as could be. 4 cyl, 5-spd manual. Not even an automatic to deal with.

THAT job took 7-8 hrs too, and I can totally sympathize with your pain!

I'll NEVER own another Dodge/Chrysler product again. EVER!!!

I had fewer problems with my mid-70's Pontiac's than I had with that one freaking Dodge. POS.

Welcome to my world, I have done this work professionally now for over 30 years. If you think any of the manufactures do it any different, guess again they are all designed this way.

Auto mechanic was my first pick for tech school, machine trades was second pick. I got machine trades ( and have been in the trade for over 30 years myself)

Wrenching is usually relaxing for me. If stuff doesn't go right, it usually doesn't matter. Not today :cuss:  :madwoman:

I guess I'm used to to working on things that make sense ( WTF was I thinking buying a chrysler product with parts made in france on it  )

156K on it, runs great. Had a tiny weep of trans fluid so it got replaced.
