I haven't felt good for a couple of weeks and all last week I had a hell-ova cough and a incipient headache. I had a sinus infection but I figured I'd suffer my way through it as I usually do.
Friday at work I told a guy I work with that I was really starting to feel like shit and if I didn't get to feeling better I wasn't coming in Monday because I was going to the doctor.
Yesterday I had no improvement and was starting to get very short of breath under the least exertion.
This morning I felt like pure shit, my head was killing me, my chest hurt and I was wheezing like a steam engine. I kept hoping that I'd get to feeling better but no soap. By 4:30 I was in bad shape. DW had just gotten home from her water aerobics class, she made me get out of bed and go to the walk in clinic.
I went, it was crowded and was in getting my vitals checked inside of 5 minutes. The nurse was pretty worried because my pulse-ox was 85. After I sat for a while it got up to 92. They gave me a breathing treatment, a huge fecking shot in the ass and a chest X-Ray.
It was confirmed I have a diffuse lung infection that because of my interstitial lung damage (caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis) was severely limiting my O2 intake.
I left there with a bag full of inhalers and 3 prescriptions. Tomorrow I have to call my Rheumatologist and regular doctor. I was supposed to have appointments with both of them this Friday. :leaving:
BTW, I did learn one thing, a shot in the ass hurts just as much at 60 as it did at 6! I bet that's the first ass shot I've had in 50 years! :yesnod:
Damn Steve. I hope that you get better soon manG.

Hope all the meds get you back on your feet. Tell DW to take a hike for a couple of weeks so you can recover.

Ever since I started taking ColdFX I haven't even had a cold for 3 years now.
The only thing I had was food poisoning in that time.
I used to get violently sick with ear infections, fever, and coughing so hard I would pass out at least 2 times a year.
ColdFX helps strengthen your immune system. There are 2 types. One for when you are already sick, and the other as a daily supplement.
It's a little expensive but I swear by it.
The great thing is you can mix it with any other drugs with no issues and even drink.

My lungs are so fooked up I gotta take my ganja in brownies! :D
This is my 3rd pneumonia event, it was the sneakiest this time too! Last time there was no doubt, I was harking up blood and had a high fever.
Time before that I felt like I had a brick in my chest and high fever.
This time pain, but not bad sort of defused, and no fever.

Arthritis can affect lungs and breathing?? lovely, never knew that...
I have arthritis from toes to nose, literally and for the last couple years have had harder breathing and sore back problems....
at the Doc Jake sez all my bloodwork and piss tests come back normal, joking about how he can't make any money off me with numbers like that....
maybe I need a stick up my ass or a MRI???

3 times in the last 25 years. You gotta remember I am on Remicade which weakens your immune system and leaves you susceptible to all sorts of bad shit. But if I don't take it there a good chance my lungs and other organs might bet more fooked up.
Gene, Rheumatoid Arthritis can effect nearly every organ of your body, including your eyes. I don't think it ever settles in your nutsack though. Regulary osteo-arthritis just effect joints.
RA can be very hard to diagnose. A buddy of mine had bad fungus on his nails he went to a skin specialist for a couple of years. One day I was in my doc's office and I saw a picture on the wall of psoriatic arthriitis, it looked just like his finger nails. Plus he'd had to quit riding his Harley because of shoulder and wrist pain. I told to make an app. with my doc, he did and he had it. He went on Humira or Enbril and is fine today. Clean nails and back to riding.
The medications are expensive as hell, about $3K a month. That's why I gotta stay working until I am Medicaid eligible.
Even with my company medical insurance it still costs me about $6-8K a year.

Don't F-around with that!
I had it a few years ago and still have some problems because of that bout with pnuemonia.
Take care Steve and take your meds!
Yea, I remember the bog 'ol shot in the ass too
Damn, Steve. You better take really good care of yourself until that stuff is completely gone. With your health issues and going in and out of the heat and AC, it's going to be rough to get rid of. Just get yourself well and do it soon!
And I'm kind of thinking DW is a tad bit more fond of you than you let on. If she didn't care, she wouldn't have just left you to die in your own pool of mucus instead of making you go to the doctor.
Get well soon, Steve.
Oh, but if you do croak, can I have your Vette?

Let me guess, you actually went to the clinic because you got tired of having this conversation:
Wife: honey, you need to go to the doctor
You: Why? What's the doctor going to do?
Wife: :banghead:
Glad you're on the mend! :hurray:

The antibiotics will knock out the infection fairly quick but what it can't undo is the accompanying scar tissue that forms in the lungs, that diminishes the lungs ability to function. That's why it's imperative to get to a doctor quick (read:not 3 weeks), especially if you've had it TWICE before.....:yesnod:
Get better soon.:sadangel:
