View Full Version : Left my job today
I started this thread a last week... http://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/off-topic/19024-should-hard-leave-job.html ...and today I left. It was actually harder than I thought. Everyone was shocked and a few people cried which got me choked up. I'm going to miss all the great people I worked with but am looking forward to the future and the many more opportunities I'll have.

That's the plan.
What was the final ass beating. I put on the radio while I was out and it was 6-1. Got some ice cream with the family and got back in it was 10-1 and I haven't looked since.
Onward and Upward

How long were you there, it can be a bit unsettling if you have been there a long time. A few friends have been lucky enough to retire recently 22, 25 31 years. It was sad watching them and seeing the mixed emotions- happy to go, but already missing the friends & job they had known for so long
You'll be fine in the end, there is always a new adventure ahead

I was there 9 years. My parents used to always say "everything happens for a reason" and "it always works out in the end".
When do you start the new gig?
I start Monday. No need to take any time off. I want to get in and get going.

Not intending to rain on your parade but I see printing as a dying business. Unless the printing is on packaging, the need for print materials is dwindling. My step-son is in college text sales and they are switching over to digital media as quickly as they can. Magazines are going digital, books are going digital, even libraries are loaning "books" digitally and people who "own" digital books can loan them to their friends (as long as their friends have compatible readers) digitally. NOTE: after a couple of weeks the loaned digital book goes back to the owner automatically and the owner does not have to chase the loanee to get their book back.
Good for you Frank. I am currently between jobs., My Tan is getting better, My weight is going down and my Golf Handicap is down 5 strokes.
Plus I've had several interviews and offers. I am just looking for the right deal after 15 years dealing with MBA Bullshit and attitude.

Not raining on my parade at all. What you just posted is the biggest reason for going to this company. They have a huge digital printing presence, large format, banners, are big into data application programming, web design, eCommerce and such.

I am Chad. I'm 43 and want to be in front of it. I don't want to stay at my old company and all of a sudden i'm 53 and still behind and now I'm trying to play catch up. Easier to do it while I'm still young(er)(ish). :D
