Huh?

Asking the dad is easy. Asking the dad to actually pay for the wedding :banghead:

I'm pretty sure I heard she's your problem now.

Wait.

Althought its tradition, consider a few things first.

If she still lives at home with her parents then yes, you should.

If she has been married before than no, you don’t really need to.

If she lives away from home, on her own, she is a grown woman and does not need her dads permission.

Old farts like me just love to give you young guys hell when this time comes around. Usually just to give you some shit, ( unless you are an azz then you may get a beat down).

If you a scared to ask, then something tells me he may NOT approve. Why?

Marriage is over-hyped.

No I'm not complaining, but I'm sure the concept was NOT a man's idea.

Marriage was designed to have kids and spread religion and to control man.

Damn glad you explaned it. It sounds kind of like he was going to ask his dad if he could marry his sister there for a second.

Just be sincere and do it, it could be a lot worse, like having to ask in a different language that you are not fluent in, like my dad did.
My dad approached my grandpa, he brought him whiskey and a gift, and said "Can i marry your sister?"

(1) All you need is a wedding band. :)

(2) Would she want you to ask her dad first?

(3) Are you ready to get married? It's not your sister's call!

Really? I thought with all your practice you would have a few tips.

There you go with the common sense stuff again.

Mike, if the booze doesn't work, try making him drink it before you mention marrying his daughter. If that don't work, I'll be glad to partake in some of said booze and then back you up with the handle :yesnod:

Probably the shovel.

If them boys are smart, they should make sure to bring you a good box of cigars and a nice bottle of bourbon.

I didn't ask either of my wife's parents.

Then again, she couldn't care less what they thought either. :D
I was living in my in-law's basement at the time, and I still asked.

I actually don't mind when my in-laws visit. They are good people.

Now that would torque me. Knowing that my daughter was being accosted by a guy not her husband in my house.

The amount of handles shown and used are immeasurable.
