I've been a DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket subscriber since 2003.

This year they started advertising NFL Sunday Ticket for free for new subscribers (with a two year commitment).

I'd heard about existing customers calling in and getting retention to get a discount, usually around half price.

I decided to give it a try. Without any effort at all they guy gave me $51.50/month in credits against the $53.99/month cost. And then he added a $50 credit to make up for the $2.49/month he couldn't find in additional discounts.

Plus he added NFL Sunday Ticket To-Go for free ($49.99 regular price)

And, no new commitment.

Wiener.

I can't even get them to do me a deal on WHDVR. They want $399 activation and use my 5 year old HR 20 with the tiny hard drive.

To be fair, I pay them out the ass. I have three HD DVRs (and one SD DVR), the top package, NFL Sunday Ticket every year and buy a good number of the UFC PPVs.

They didn't owe me anything. I almost didn't call to ask, but I figured I'd try...glad I did.
