I need some information. I need to know what the amperage output the ac/dc adapter is. It should say on the adapter. It does not say on the radio and I need to buy a new ac dc adapter.
It is a TEAC model R_1

The manual just says:
Power Requirement (AC adaptor):
120 V, 60 Hz (U.S.A./Canada model)
230 V, 50 Hz (Europe model)
Power Consumption:
15 W
I read somewhere that it was like 3v, which based on power consumption would imply 5A.

The image showing the back of the radio says input = 12V DC.
15W @ 12V DC = 1.5A (IIRC)
Still seems kind of high for a radio, but it's a place to start.

I do appreciate all the responses. I was not able to find a manual. The problem is, I need to know the amps the adapter puts out or I could fry my radio with too much. Teac does not make this anymore and will not respond.
jobaka - thanks. I will ask radio shack what they think.

Hmm, I went back and found the the thread where it said 3v and it may have been a different radio. Some of them fixit forums are hard to read and the ads look like part of the content.

The power supply will not "force" current into the radio. The radio will only draw what it requires.
Hopefully, someone with more recent experience will chime in, but I believe the real risk is choosing a power supply with too low a rating as it could result in the power supply itself overheating and/or failing.

It's all good.
From the manual in post #2:

Correct. You could connect the 12V input of the radio to a 1000W 12V battery charger and it would be happy as a clam.

I did write Teac and asked them. I was disappointed that they did not respond. However, about 4 or more days later, they asked what color I wanted. They are going to send me a new adaptor.
Now, that is nice. Oh, and my wife found where the cord was. She had moved it. I do need two though.
