View Full Version : Just got the repo on a Smart car.
Problem is, the designers designed them to not fit on a tow truck. Serious.:kick:
The tow trucks now have "wheel lifts" and they will not go narrow enough to pick up a smart car.
Guess I will call in a favor to a friend who has a flat bed. :cool1:

Beware of the granola bars on the dash, the birkenstock sandals on the floor, and the "Save the Planet" protest sign in the back seat.

Just find the end of the power cord and drag it home.
Just throw a couple Viagra in the gas tank wait till it temporary gets a little bigger and now use the tow truck (whose bar device should fit) and get it back QUICK to the lot!

Meh. Put it in the glovebox.

It is short enough and narrow enough that you can "horizontal" park it, rather than parallel park it as you would a normal car. This comes in handy in cities where parking is hard to come by (most European cities are like this). How many times have you been downtown somewhere and seen a space, only to quickly realize that your Hummer sized vehicle won't fit? If you have a Smart car, just back in until your rear wheels hit the curb, and go on about your business.
Smart was designed as a commuter car. I remember seeing them in Europe way before they got here.
Now, I wouldn't buy one, it wouldn't suit my needs, but for the downtown commuter who can't afford to use a parking garage...seems like a reasonable purchase.

The truck driver at work ( 18' stake bed UD ) was coming up to a light when it changed to red.
He hit the brakes and stopped. He said "All of sudden I heard screaching of tires but didn't see anything behind me".
As he pulled away from the light when it changed, he saw a smart car directly behind with the driver's eyes big as saucers :lolsmile:
~~~~~
I've had one pull up next to me while driving the suburban. They are tiny. You might even come out ok if you hit one on the cycle :lol:
because the sheepish men buying them (who were prolly beat-up regularly in school)... it makes them feel smart for once in their life.
Ever notice that most men with these things are 5'5". That small box must make then feel like a giant.
I hear they're popular in France...
And here is my question....wtf does the +5 hp in the back window really mean?
that would be the net hp gain due to the the dust being taken off. Greatly improves power-to-weight ratio.
They're the same price and get the gas mileage of a motorcycle, with slightly more safety and ability to carry stuff. Slightly. Not to mention the stability of four wheels and almost as easy to find parking for as a motorcycle.
