It's the best series I've ever read. Wait till you get to A Storm of Swords. It's like 1100 pages. Most books I can knock out in a day or two. I think it took me almost 3 months to knock out all 4 books. Heck, I've been re-reading A Game of Thrones for a week and I'm only 75% through it...

You should read "A Helmet for my Pillow", also by Robert Leckie. Part of the HBO miniseries, The Pacific, was drawn from that book.

Was down in the basement and found a copy of ‘‘Marine’’ by Burk Davis. This book was stashed in a box with a lot of old time mementos. I picked it up and decided to give it another read.

Marine is the biography of Lewis "Chesty" Puller, the most decorated marine ever.

That reminds me. The other day I was talking about authors with Barb. I asked her if she liked Kipling. She said, 'I don't know, I've never kippled.'

I'm currently reading two.

Decision Points by George W. Bush. I want to hear his prospective about the incredible decisions he was faced with. Like him or not,the man served one of the toughest 8 years of my lifetime.

SEAL of Honor written by Gary Williams

I have just finished Patrick Robinson's (June 2007). Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10. You can't make it through this book without taking away a true respect for the men and women who defend this country. I highly suggest reading it if you have any interest in the war in Iraq.

In April of the year 2000, a six-mile sphere centered on Grantville, West Virginia was displaced in space and time to Germany and May, 1631. The inhabitants of Grantville decided to start the American revolution early; the nobility of Europe were not amused.

I'll have to check that one out. I really like Hamilton's books.

I just read book 1 and 2 of the "Spirit of the Empire (http://www.spiritofempire.com/)" series. Book 3 isn't out yet. Really enjoyed those. Book 1 starts out a little hokey but then I couldn't put them down. It's not Hamilton but still a fun read.

You can find most of that series on line at a couple of free spots. Great for the Kindle.
It takes some digging but a lot of good stuff is there.
