Getting the bug for a new car. I and looking at what is called a "performance sedan". So far the list is:

Lexus IS F
Infinity M56
Cadillac CTS V

New, these are all around $65k.

Anyone have any experience with this type of car and recommendation?

In that price range? BMW 550i with a manual gear box (I think it's available with manual, or maybe dual clutch now...). Nothing drives like a BMW. Flame suit on

My DD is a 2005 SLK 55 AMG. Cripes, the windshield wipers are 32 bux a piece and an oil filter is almost $30. Brake pads for a single axle are $250. Yeah, I know. If you're going to spend that, you should be able to afford the maintenance items, but it's the principle of the thing.

Used to have an s4 but it was in the shop alot and they are expensive out of warranty. Fun car though.

Now I have a G8 GT and love it. Just ordered the last of the suspension mods last night.

I read up on these cars all the time. Which ones are you seriously looking at?

I'd have a tendency to go with the CTS-V Coupe, but after the issues one of our members had with their V, I'd certainly do my homework first. After all, I'm not typically an American car guy. I prefer the Asian cars, but I do love both my Vettes and respect the power of the V's. :yesnod:

I am leaning hard towards a V wagon or a gt500 vert for my next go around..

I know quite a difference..

I have only seen the IS F up close and personal. It really sounded great and the electro luminesence of the dash knocked my eyes out. I need to take it for a drive.

hell yeah it does. I don't have the V (but I've driven them), but I do have an '07 CTS with the 6spd manual and absolutely love it. Smooth, sexy and sleek with enough power to leave those pansy ass ricers in your dust with very little effort.

I'm stuck with a pickup of some kind the rest of my life...

and my wife would NEVER buy a car more expensive than an Accord or Camry...

I'll never know the luxury of driving a Cadillac or BMW. :(

You realize those damned things cost almost as much as a nicely equipped diesel pickup, right?

Just checking.:D

I have been driving the Lexus while testing tires:
http://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/road-courses-auto-x-etc/13950-i-just-got-back-testing-michelin-pilot-super-sports-pbir.html

Brakes are good, comfy to drive in and steers well. Paddle shifts as well as auto mode was good.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/photopost/direct_data/1632/Some_drifting_fun_at_speed.jpg

The Jaguar was nice as well.........Paddle shifts are ok, the tranny was hunting for gears at times...............but then I was at WOT most of the time :)

A friend back in NY has an ISF.

Only complaint is with the tranny having so many gears that around town from 35 to 55 or so it hunts for gears too like mentioned above.

I know it isn't as fast as some of the cars listed here, but Neeces little 335 may be the best all around car I ever drove.

My 528 was the best driving, best handling sedan I have ever driven.

But then the cabin temperature would change and the wood veneer in the console would crack, the cup holder would fall out of the dash, the sunroof would decide to stick half open or an idiot light would come on requiring the transmission be replaced.

BMW engineers the best cars around. But they don't build them for crap.

Maybe not, but it handles as well as my zo6, is probably almost as fast as my old 99 C5 and makes more torque and is only a tick slower than the new M3s.

Just sayin'

but don't EVER try selling ME that some boring FOUR DOOR SEDAN is a performance car....i'ts a damn expensive grocery getter and nothing more....

and apparently can be a whole lot LESS when the bills come in.....

brake pad for 200 bux/axle are hardly justifiable for a grocery getter....

Wife's surgeon has one. He's currently trying to get Jaguar to buy it back. Of course, as I pointed out to him, for someone that needs reliable transportation 24/7, a Jaguar wouldn't have been my first choice. Thankfully, his wife has a 10 yr old Subaru Outback that's never failed them. Go figure.

Which loops me around to virtually all of this end-end Euro stuff. Functionally, they're disposable transportation after they roll out of warranty. Don't believe me? Check on the budget used car lots in your town and see how many big Bimmers, Merc's, and Audi's you see. For cheap. Like, beater transportation cheap.

We just wholesaled a beautiful '01 740iL that just rolled 100K miles. Thing brought a whopping $3500. To put this in perspective, that's a grand or two less than a Camry or Accord would've brought, same model year and condition, and about the same as a comparable Impala or Taurus would be worth right now.

No matter how expensive they are new, they all turn into old used cars at some point in time.

It is very easy to drive fast; I hope TATA doesn't eff them up.
