EVANSVILLE, IN - A southwestern Indiana homeowner fought back against a burglar and put him behind bars.

Evansville Police say the 19-year-old suspect broke into the home of Joseph Vallar. What the suspect didn't know was that Vallar is an Iraq war veteran, and that he was armed.

When Vallar came home and found the burglar in his home, he took matters into his own hands.

Here is a transcript of the 911 call, where only Vallar's voice was audible.

"I just caught somebody breaking into my house, I have my gun drawn on him right now, get down!" Vallar said to the dispatcher. He then added to the suspect, "You ain't using the bathroom, you ain't using nothing, you're just going to lay there."

"You want officers to come into the front door?" asked the dispatcher.

"Come into the front door, I'm sitting here by the front door with my gun drawn and pointed at the guy," said Vallar.

When police arrested the suspect, they said he had stolen pills, cologne, a pocket knife and Vallar's army medals.

Oh just wait till the puffers show up to say there's no way he should have held the gun on the burglar like they've already stated this week.
