SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A 12-foot alligator was caught at King's Ferry off of Highway 17 on Tuesday night.

Trapper Jack says the Department of Natural Resources called him to catch the gator earlier in the day. It took him about two hours to track him down using deer lungs as bait.

After he hooked the gator, it went into the woodline, where it was shot. Trapper Jack also caught another 9-foot gator.

He says children and a dog were swimming very close to the gators and he thinks King's Ferry needs more signs warning swimmers.

Trapper Jack says another large gator was spotted, but not trapped.

He says he catches about four gators this large each year.
