This and BTB are deadsville man! anyone check in all the time to see if there's anything new, or is it just me????

Really a shame folks are too damn lazy to go off the main OT to the special ones they took the time to build for us! :slap:

I don't check in because, I don't think many others do. It is a shame. I often have some questions where I would like peoples ideas without going to a cooking forum. I also sometimes have a recipe that I really want to share.

I am in hopes that this will keep on going, with a larger participation

I don't trust many men to cook...:lol:
But just looking around at recipes.. last time i posted a picture many people commented that it looked like puke.. but if i see others posting pictures of food i might get encouraged. :D

Hi Jenn, it's they're twisted job to crap on everybody's stuff, that's OT for ya! Don't take it personally, most of them wouldn't know good from bad! There is an old saying that applies although, regarding food presentation.......

I can't cook and be artistic at the same time :confused5:

The leaves in romaine hearts are like little canoes. You can use them to hold lots of things. Veggies, salsa, fruit salad, chicken salad, etc. It's a quick and easy way to make a pretty presentation and you can eat the bowl!:D

The little crabs are punched out of carrot slices. I have a bunch of really intricate food punches that I found in Hong Kong many years ago, but you can find them in any good China town. Got to have a little fun with food too :D

I've made their Red Velvet cake many times and it's been loved by many local bakers. They tell me it's as good as any homemade that they've made. We did a taste testing with longtime bakers and the food department. My guess is that the Black Velvet tastes the same as the red. Looks to have purple frosting.:D If it isn't purple, I'm going to make it purple!

I'm making it for a co-worker who loves the red velvet cake. He really wants a lemon dobage' , but I do not have that kind of time! I'll take photos.:yesnod:

My favorite red cake is "My Granny's Red Cake". It's not a true red velvet but it's tasty.

:lol:, I'll look forward to seeing what happens. Years ago when I did a lot of baking, a lady told me the biggest mistake she ever made was serving red velvet cake at her son's birthday party... projectile vomit and white carpet :rofl:

I made my lasagna for my parents last weekend.
It was a total flop.
The sauce was too thin and I overcooked the lasagna.
I ended up with something that was inedible. At least to me.
A day later I tried some more and told my mother that I will not be offended if they throw it out as I wasn't going to eat anymore of it.

Sometimes things work out, sometimes not. I have a pretty good batting average though.

I used to be a vegetarian, and even now i refuse to eat red meat when eating out. My dad can make a mean steak though :cheers: when my mom lets him of course, since he makes the whole kitchen dirty. :D

By the way Jenn, add me to the list of men who can cook. Retired now, but was a professional chef for 15 years. And Mike, you can see the food service past in your presentation as well. It's something that you don't forget, and can't help.
I even spread my grapefruit out in a fan design for myself, hehe! :D:D
