Harman Supports Android In-Car Protocol
Harman International said Tuesday that it now supports the Android Open Accessory Protocol, a new connectivity standard for in-car use. Harman is the first major CE company to embrace the standard, and will include it in all Harman automotive products.

“Consumers no longer view their living room, workplace, and personal devices as separate domains,” Harman CEO Dinesh Paliwal said as part of the announcement.

“Connectivity is fast becoming a fundamental expectation and lifestyle requirement. Consumers want to connect simply and safely in their cars, and by making this Android standard part of our OEM packages, we continue to build upon our leadership in smartphone connectivity and integration.”

Amazon Pushes California Referendum
Amazon is fighting back against the recently passed Internet sales tax in California by seeking a ballot referendum in that state.

According to the AP, Amazon has filed a petition with the state attorney general's office to place a question on the November ballot to let voters decide whether the sales tax should go into effect.

The tax, signed into law as part of the state budget last month, led Amazon to cut off its affiliates in the state.
