Five Fingers Shoes
Five Finger shoes--those that have a compartment for each toe are now banned by the Army for looking too silly. The shoes apparently make the wearer feel barefoot and are supposed to increase balance and agility, but the Army says that they look unprofessional. According to the Army’s official release the shoes "detract from a professional military image and are prohibited for wear with the IPFU (Improved Physical Fitness Uniform) or when conducting physical training in military formation."

I've been hearing good things about those shoes for people with bad knees and bad running form, having just recently recovered from shin splits, I'm considering going to check a pair out.

I love em, they are comfortable, and for running, start on grass or dirt first to build the muscles. If you start out on asphalt or concrete in these things, you will get hurt. However, just wearing them to walk around is really comfortable.
