Lots of sandwich shops user their meats.

It was good to see a decent dog, because you can't find good hot dogs in the south. It's impossible to find vienna beef, and Nathan's are overrated.

boars head makes a fine spicy /hot sausage also. the local supermarket never orders enough though.

One of the best kept secrets in our neighborhood......'bout 4 mile from the house.

I'm guessing you could wrap a cat turd in bacon and deep fry it and it would be delicious.

You know what else is artery clogging goodness? Roll a slab of spam in flour and deep fry it. Make sandwich. Stuff into Spam hole. Belch loudly.

Mayo. Then, add some cooked bacon. Haven't tried wrapping in bacon, then frying. Yet.

Need to come to Texas, we have nearly as many Bohemian butchers as Messican taco places. :yesnod:

Bacon wrapped Brats on the grill are awesome!

Don't worry if you might have to use more than 1 toothpick. The bacon condenses which leaves no room for the Brat juices to escape. It's THE best way to grill a Brat. IMHO

Chris, I can agree to nearly all of this except the "good dogs in the south" part. Nathan's blow my neighbor's balls.

Where? Not much in Austin.

Go south east about 50-60 miles to Hallettsville, Shiner, Yoakum, Moulton, Flatonia, Panna Maria and Gonzales.

Some of the brands in the local stores that I can recall off the top of my head, Janack's, Prasek's, Novosads, J&B's, Slovocek's and up around Austin, Meyer's in Elgin.

There are probably a dozen more within 50 miles of Hallettsville.

Oh good. I moved here from Milwaukee where we have tons of old school, corner butcher shops. Few and far between here.
