Well, it's more of a wine heater actually. Our nice expensive wine cooler started running a little warm, supposed to be around 55 and it was running about 60-61 and running continuously. Finally got a service guy out here, took all the wine out (200 bottles), and took out the chiller.
FUBAR
The compressor was hot as a firecracker, couldn't even touch it. The hot side was cold and the cold side was hot. Looked nice though. Lasted about 10 years, there is that.
New unit ordered from manufacturer for $700 plus $60 shipping. Just one more thing in the daily life of a homeowner. :banghead:

Turn the plug the other way and try again.

Don't need a wine cabinet chiller unit, but I will take any wine you don't need. :D

It was probably a good thing we had to empty it. We mark the wine bottles with a number from 1 to whatever, which is the number of years it can sit - relative to the date the wine was made - before it is at its prime. Some 2000 bottles at the bottom had a 10 on them, which means they are a year past their prime. Oh well, guess I'll have to get busy. :D

Couple of years ago, a customer of mine offered his wine chiller for FREE, nice wood trimmed thing about size of a 21' fridge...worked fine and everything, but I don't drink whine because I fussy about the flavor.....
guess he gave it to someone else by now....

5 degrees is not important unless you're talking years of exposure.
I have some bottles probably past their peak that I need to drink as well.

Put shelves in the old unit and use it for a home theater gear rack. Might need a vent or two, though.
