I did run cmd and pinged my router but it comes back request timed out. I unplugged the router from my desktop and plugged it back in but it still request timed out. :waiting:

My laptop is wired to the same router and it works fine. My desktop does this sometimes and I always restarted but I'm tired of having to do that.

I found my IP address and it wasn't what a website said to enter to ping my router so i pinged with it and now it connected. Did that fix it or is it a coincidence that it connected then?

I have no idea what you were trying to say here.

Run this command

ipconfig /all

Look for the line that says Default Gateway. That is your router's IP address.

Mostly likely the same value in the line for DHCP Server and DNS Servers, too.

Ping 127.0.0.1

127.0.0.1 should be the loop back interface on you NIC...

Ping 127.0.0.1

127.0.0.1 should be the loop back interface on you NIC...

That works for me. How can that be his IP address if it's my IP address too?

Old dudes and Computers

I had a problem yesterday, so I called Eric, the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control and asked him to come over.
Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.
As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong ?
He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.'

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired,

'An, ID ten T error ? What's that? In case I need to fix it again.'

Eric grinned .... 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before ?

'No,' I replied.

'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.
So I wrote down:

ID 10 T.........IDIOT!

I used to like Eric, the little bastard.....:jester:

That would be true if it was something anyone with common sense could figure out.
