Because they just converted my Wachovia account to Wells Fargo. Their way of doing business is not what I signed up for, they immediately messed up my bill pay. My bill pay had been issued by Wachovia on the same day as converting -- well they managed to issue two checks instead of one.
I've only been with them for 2 weeks, and I'm pretty sure I'll be moving my money out of their pretty soon.
Have you taken a look at their over-draft fees?! dear Lord! WITH over draft protection it's a $25 fee for every item. My USAA pays overdraft from either my savings or a credit card for FREE.

I had Wells Fargo for quite some time.
There were alot of little issues, but here was the final straw.
I went TAD to New Jersey, while I was there I overdrafted, twice.
I immediatly called WF and explained them the situation, and they agreed to just charge me one overdraft fee. The Customer service guy then told me that he noticed I had a WF credit card that I never activated, and I could use that as overdraft protection on my account. So we set that up and he told me that this time it wouldn't get used, but if I overdrafted again, it would. cool, I got paid that next day, so it wasn't an issue.
a few weeks later, I get a Credit card bill from WF, for $66.00 worth of overdraft protection, which were the two from NJ.
So I called WF, and they said it was a mistake, and took the charges off.
The next month, I had a $78 bill, which was the original $66 and a late fee.
I called again, and I was told it would be taken care of.
then comes another bill: $116. WTF.
I call up WF and immediatly ask for a supervisor. When I explain what was going on, he told me "it's a computer error... here's what we can do, we'll credit the $66 overdraft fees to your account, and then you send us a check for the $66, and we'll just call it good." so I did a check by phone, and the $66 transfer showed up in my bank account. all was good.
the following month, I get another bill for around $160. I call back to the same guy and he gives me some line about how me got my account numbers mixed up and that's why the check didn't go through. So I give them to him again. He reads it back, it's correct. fine.
Next month, I get a letter from a collections agency saying that I owe Wells Fargo $198 and that the contract for collections had been passed to them. WTHH?
I call up the agency and inform them what had transpired and all I get is "sir, we get stories everyday from people, and I believe yours as much as I believe thiers." I hung up on that SOB.
I hopped in my car and drove the 2.5 hours to the nearest WF branch. Went right in the door and said I need to speak to the branch manager now.
So I got to sit down with her, explained what had occured. She called up the a-hole at the collections agency and conferenced in the supervisor from earlier.
The whole thing finally got straightned out. It was a mess. Took me another year before I could WF to remove the whole thing from my Credit reports.

They are apparently assholes to their employees too. My friends daughter just quit being a teller and went to work at Pet Smart because of pressure by WF management. They rate and berate their tellers for not getting new business and selling "packages" to people who are already customers.
She couldn't stand it anymore so she took a pay cut just to get away from it. :yesnod:

Bank of America has the same cost. I asked them about this. They acted like it was the standard. To get around it, I only use a credit card. If I need cash, I check my balance first to make sure I have enough in the proper account.

I couldn't tell you the last time I overdrafted <I don't write checks>. But mistakes happen occasionally, I just can't rationalize doing business this way. If they have my money <enough to cover the overdraft> but want to charge me 25 to access my own money...they can piss off I'll gladly keep my money elsewhere.

In the times before picture deposits, I was paid with a paper check and wanted a local bank.. I prefer not to use ATM's for pretty much anything, I've never made an ATM deposit, and really don't plan to.
So I was forced to open a local bank, I knew a corvette owner at a Wachovia so started there..I've been with them for 6 years or so now..well until 2 weeks ago they converted me to Wells Fargo.
I keep my savings with USAA but have always enjoyed being able to walk downstairs in my office building and use the local branch.

WF pissed me off last week with an transfer charge. I have a savings account linked to my checking that puts $100 in there everything I use my check card to pay for things. It’s a nice way for me to put money aside and never really miss it since it goes away 3 or 4 bucks at a time and I can transfer it back into checking without any issue. My life insurance company decided to draft my account on the 16th instead of the 17th like they had for the past 6 months and I had not transferred money into the checking account to cover it. It was scheduled to go in at midnight on the 16th. Well WF pulled the money out of my savings account linked to the checking account and charged me $12.50 for each transaction both of them. I was like WTF the money was set up to be transferred to the account from the same savings account they pulled the money out of to cover the drafts. What a bunch of Ass holes. Oh I gave my insurance agent a call about it also for them changing the damn date.

Once upon a time, it was First Interstate Bank here in Oregon, and they were pretty good. Then they got bought out by Worst Fargo. Customer service deteriorated. After a few more mergers, my credit line got accidentally merged with someone in Michigan with the same name (but the other bank in the merger). His line was maxed, mine had a zero balance. Took months to get that sorted out. Last straw was when random checks started bouncing because of computer glitches. Didn't feel so bad when Oregon's Banking Commissioner got involved- the State's checks were bouncing too.
That being said- all the big banks are evil. just a question of degrees.

that's your fault for not receiving a copy of the mortgage satisfaction for the old mortgage at the closing table.
one should never sign a new mortgage on a property w/o receiving a mortgage satisfaction letter for the prior mortgage.
that simple document would have saved you the aggravation you experienced.

There is rarely a closing table these days on a refi. Mine with WF was done over the phone and by sending in a notarized packet. I received my satisfaction note about 3 weeks after closing.

When I relocated, went with PNC, they seen to be fairly receptive to customer demands. Weaning myself away from Wachovia since they moved to WF. The bigger they are, the less service they provide.

Wells Fargo starting charging me a $25 fee on a line of credit account. Wachovia never charged me for that account. It's only a $200 line of credit that was originally included for FREE along with the checking account I set up when I was in college! It was for overdraft protection... But then Wells Fargo stopped the automatic overdraft protection, and starting charging me $25 annually for my $200 line of credit which I have never used (and they never told me about the fee ahead of time).

Balance your check book much?
I see the .gov and their minions in the MSM, have done an outstanding job demonising the banking industry. and the sheeple go right along with it.
Uh, because they accepted $25 billion in TARP funds and shit? :bilmem:
Wells Fargo was one of the banks that actually did not want or need TARP funds.
Paulson put them ALL in a room and basically told them they would ALL take funds so that the weaker banks would have cover.
Wells Fargo actually played the mortgage game smartly, they sold off a metric shit-ton of mortgage backed securities PRIOR to the collapse, I seem to recall quite a few billions worth in 2007. They had relatively little garbage on their books when the shit hit the fan.
Essentially, they were timely hot potato players.
I do feel sorry for Wachovia customers who did not sign up for Wells Fargo and don't like the differences.

Sure, but I don't write but maybe 6 checks a year, I never had an overdraft with wachovia except right after I got the overdraft set up, I didn't think I needed to manually move money from savings to checking, one call to wachovia and all fees were removed from my account, and I never did it again.
I Just don't like the new terms with WF.
One of the best banks in America. If you are a good customer, they treat you great. Sure, there are pleny to mix ups in takeovers, but I liked them so much, I have been buying their stock for years.
The old days of sleepy banks with Mildred behind the counter letting you pretty much walk all over them with your accounts are over....its a business, their branches are called "stores" and like any company they make some mistakes, but if you aren't in the crowd whining about fees, they treat you like royalty.

Three letters ING
When I refi'd I was glad it went to WF and away from GMAC. One thing I'd wanted to do was setup my mortgage to pay half every two weeks. GMAC wanted to charge me to do this, when I logged into WF site to setup my mortgage payment the first time, they offer it for free.
Which reminds me...I still need to setup the pay every two weeks option... :leaving:

Yeah, they tried to charge me fees for a account that was close also. When my local was taken over by Norwest one of the things that stopped was the ability for me to deposit a small portion of my check each payday into a separate savings account. So I went down and drew the little cash I had in that account out and closed the account.
Well when Wells Fargo took over they saw this account with no money in it (apparently Norwest never closed it or just switched it to inactive) and started charging me $10.00 a month service charge for having less than $1000.00 in the account. I kept getting mail from them which I never opened because I was no longer their customer. Then one day I get a call from a collection agency saying I owed Wells Fargo $110.00 + late charges and service fees of another $275.00.
I said "WTF are you talking about, I don't have a loan at WF!" They said this is for past due service charges on your account. I said, "Well F you and hung up." I then went down to branch and asked to speak to the accounts manager. After about 20 minutes this over-dressed 50 year old Stepford wife walked out. I told her what was up, she said it was a policy, I said I have a document showing that my account was closed by Norwest, then I showed it to her. Then she apologized and said she'd "reimburse me the money." I told her I never had the money so all I want is the account closed and the the credit agencies contacted. Plus call off the loan collectors. I also wanted proof that the credit agencies had been called.
It took them about 4 or 5 months to finally come through with what I requested. Maybe I should be mad at Norwest, but it was the smary attitude of the Accounts manager until I showed her the receipt showing the account was closed, that got to me.

Why should I be strong armed into doing business with somebody or in a manner in which I don't want to?
Changing to the new checking & savings "package" will apparently require a new checking number anyways...so since I have to reset all of my bill pays, I might as well change to a bank that wants my business.

I know it's a regional bank, but with the internet you can still bank with them - TD Bank
I've been with them since the early 90's when they were Commerce Bank, NA and never pay an ATM surcharge (they reimburse foreign ATM surcharges) , excellent service both in person and on the phone.
They have expanded in recent months by buying Carolina Mercantile .
