HONORVILLE, AL (WSFA) - When it comes to their pet ducks, Renea Bell and Brenda Reeves have had their fair share of tragedy.

"We don't even want to go to sleep at night because we're scared somebody else is going to try to come back out and do something," says Reeves.

Bell and Reeves say just a few weeks ago a woman tried to steal two ducks from their yard in Honoraville, but they caught her.

"The police came, we kept her apprehended there," says Bell.

The ducks were ok; however, this time they weren't so lucky.

"It was one of the most horrific sights I've ever seen in my life," adds Reeves.

Friday morning Brenda and Renea came home from work only to find nearly 20 of their ducks lined up in the yard...dead.

"Some of them actually had the stab wounds and the heart taken out and the feet cut off," says Bell.

Four ducks managed to live, but even three of them were seriously injured.

"[We're] trying to heal them back," says Bell.

Every time the two go outside to check on the ducks they do have left, they're met by a harsh reminder--feathers of the ones that were killed still cover the ground.

"I don't think it'll ever go out of your mind," says Bell.

Crenshaw County Sheriff's deputies can't share too much information since their investigation is ongoing.

So, for now Brenda and Renea hope authorities find out who's responsible...and punished for a crime they can't understand.

Good fences make good neighbors. When that fails, then it's time to declare armed, open conflict. :beat:
