I leave it on, and it goes to sleep by itself.

I'll sometimes just turn the monitor off.

I use it for a server though.

I turn the laptop off. No cooler for it yet. My PC would stay on all the time during the winter.

from the looks of it...all I see in public is folks attached at the hip to their Iphone or other pocket device.

so, they leave one computer in exchange for another.

people are sick.

So you don't wear a watch? It's "computing" time you know. :D

If I didn't have to carry my BB I would have just a regular old cell phone for emergency only. I tried out an Android last year and just didn't use it enough to justify the cost. I use the BB to send and receive email/text, get the radar while on the golf course, and occasionally listen to the police scanner (just to see if they're coming to take me away).

actually...no. I do not wear a watch...but that's not the point.

My primary desktop runs 24/7. It has my web server and other virtuals that run all the time.

Does a typical standard analog wristwatch "compute" time? No IMHO.

I shut mine down at night when I crash and turn it back on when I get home from work.

My laptop is the same, although I use it a LOT less.

I am guilty of the iPhone sin. I will look at my email all day long. I don't answer them, but I will check them periodically.

What I DONT do is interrupt conversations I'm having with people to answer a call or check email. I think it's rude.

Best to leave 'em on, esp. those LCD monitors.

Heating/cooling (on power up) kills 'em quicker.

They aren't bad vampires ( nothing like a DVR) when they go into sleep mode.
