I do not like this car. I don't like the way it looks. It causes me discomfort on so many levels.

How does it compare to the 135/335 turbo as far as acceleration?

Well the numbers aren't as good, but to the butt-o-meter it feels quicker at speeds below 40mph, even compared to my 135i. It's not as quick on the highway, but it doesn't give up much to a 335i.

I calculated (on another forum) that a 335d has 8% greater peak acceleration in each gear compared to a 335i (steptronic). That takes into account gearing and weight differences. However, it shifts sooner so the 335i still gets it on the top end.

The power delivery is way different. The power curve actually reminds me of my old L98 vette, but with a lot more torque. It's a brute on the low and midrange, but like the L98 the fun is over at 4500rpm. Then it upshifts and you get another kick in the pants.

You can be cruising along at certain speeds and give it some right pedal to pass-- and rather than downshift, the engine just grows a big hairy pair of balls and shoves you the f*** forward because downshifting is for pussies.
