EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - Having your house broken into once is bad enough, but three times? Randy Totten, of Stilson, has done everything to protect himself, installing an alarm system. He even added surveillance cameras. Now he needs the public's help to bring a burglar to justice.

The burglar looked right at the camera and once he realizes it, he tears the camera down. What he doesn't realize is that by doing so he gave law enforcement a pretty clear view of something that will likely help track him down.

The burglar has a very distinguishable tattoo and that's not something he can easily hide when law enforcement comes knocking on his door. A piece of evidence investigators wouldn't have if it weren't for Totten who decided to install camera's to catch criminals. "All we can do is hope for the best, hope that the right person sees that picture, and makes that phone call," said Totten.

Totten is all too familiar with burglars. The first one got away, but after that experience Totten decided to install an alarm system and the cameras. A short time later in 2009 it happened to him again, this time the burglar didn't get away. "That video surveillance helped apprehend him. I hope that it does the same here," said Totten.

The video shows the burglar being dropped off on the road, then walking onto Totten's property. He goes around to the back side of the house, looking in windows, even at one point climbing on the roof. Once he sees the camera he immediately pulls it down! After that he breaks two windows before being scared away by the alarm system.

"I've lost things before, I've broke things before, I've had things taken before, but this is my home and my family. That's the hardest part. It's my family. What can I do next to try to protect them even more?" asked Totten.

He hopes his video will help police stop this burglar in his tracks, and when he's caught Totten has a message for culprit behind this crime. "Go get a job. Go work hard at a job instead of working hard at stealing something somebody else worked for," said Totten.

Effingham County Sheriff's Office is also looking at this burglar as a person of interest in several of their cases. Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call police.

I'd say it's high time for an armed response.
